A new Star Wars trilogy, while entertaining, was unnecessary.

Sorry for another Star Wars thread, but we already have a million, one more shouldn’t hurt.

I haven’t seen TLJ yet, but I have felt since they announced TFA, that a new trilogy following Return of the Jedi was just a money grab, and nothing more. Return of the Jedi ended things so perfectly. The prophecy was fulfilled, the Sith were no more, balance was seemingly brought to the force. The Galactic Civil War was over and now the Galaxy was free. Now we have basically destroyed that by bringing a pseudo-Empire back, bringing two dark side users back, bringing a rebellion back, and bringing a Galactic Civil War back. What was the point of the saga if it just reached its happy ending and then we undid the happy ending?

two things

1. Luke survived and was good, there were no dark side users, so no balance.

2. When has the end of a war ever left peace? There is always someone else ready to try and conquer.

I still think a movie about the Imperial Remnants vs The Rebellion would have been one hell of a war movie. One that we needed way more than Rogue One for a one off.

People love Star Wars, and they want more. Dozens of books and the expanded universe weren't necessary either, but people apparently loved them.

When one side wins decisively and rules strongly. Still peace thought history never lasts a generation or two.

Nope.. It certainly didn't end with Endor. Jakku was the final conflict.

Plus Snoke witnessed the rise and fall of the Empire... So technically darkness was still in the galaxy .

Eat shite.

Force Awakens was awesome. It's my third favorite Star Wars movie behind V and IV

Why they didn't just let JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan direct and write all three movie I will never understand.

What kind of retarded studio makes a trilogy and has different directors and writers for the first two movies with complete autonomy and no collusion.

Disney already Green lit Rian Johnson an entire new trilogy written and directed by him. No joking. Look it up.

"bringing balance to the force" is so dumb.

Yeah, for now, but in 3 months Johnson will leave Disney over “creative differences”. They will have to go in a different direction.

I’m not saying that the new ones aren’t good/won’t be good, I just feel like the story ended perfectly with Return of the Jedi.
