Pixelation is horrible. Fox broadcasts are amazing.

I'm thinking abc is upconverting from 1080 instead of using true 4k cameras.

It's so obvious my 82 year old dad was noticing.

It looks like they are using some cheap camera tricks.

Any thoughts.

I thought it looked great. Really clear picture. The biggest positive is getting rid of the score ticker that takes up 1/8th of the screen. The only flickering I saw was when the camera was showing them in the booth in front of the green screen.

Yeah, I thought it looked amazing. Maybe OP had some weird tv setting on or something because I don’t think I’ve ever seen a clearer game

According to this, they are upscaling from 1080p.

That makes sense..my question now ithat we know all channels upconvert, why are fox 4k broadcasts absolutely stunning on my TV and why does abc pixelize?

And that is a question that can't readily be answered.

I just see the difference with my eyes..

Fox 4k does look better, but NBC 4k blows them all out the water imo.

The sound was off for the Gamecocks game. Sounded like it was coming from a tunnel in waves.

ABC, which is ESPN, has always been behind the times when it comes to broadcast quality. I remember when 1080 came out and their telecasts looked like 720. Always worse than NBC or Fox.

LSU vs SC wasn't a 4K broadcast so that might have something to do with it. It did look like shite for me as well. On the other hand Bama vs Wisconsin and UGA vs Kentucky were both 4K one on Fox and one on ABC and both looked great.

Haven't noticed a difference during college games, but for NFL games, my channels are just the opposite. The local Fox channel is very grainy. I don't normally watch a lot of college games on Fox.

I still have cable, and pay extra for digital HD channels on two of our four TV setups. The picture is always grainy on KARD, our local Fox channel. I get the same channel in analog and and what's supposed to be HD digital modes. There's no difference on KARD. Most of the other HD channels are actually much clearer than their analog channel. I get KTBS, Shreveport's ABC channel in analog only. The picture on it is not close to what the local ABC HD channel is.The weirdest thing is I get FS1 in HD.

It's not just the grainy picture. KARD is more of a square picture instead of being wide screened like the other digital channels. It cuts off the info on both sides of Fox's 'score banner for NFL games. I can change the aspect setting on my TV, but Fox's square pic still has some of their info cut off.
