I had never heard of the tranny until now, apparently he "transitioned" or whatever just a few years ago. He's still actually married to his long time wife with whom he has a daughter. How very weird for them.

One of the worst Oscar years I can remember, a shame because you felt some real momentum happening the last handful of years.
Emilia Perez getting 13 noms is flat-out embarrassing.

I really hadn’t paid much attention to Emilia Perez, but mostly heard about Zoe having a great performance. But I had assumed it was a classic Oscar bait film that was extremely popular with the critics and audiences who like those types of films.
But after seeing the negative reactions from people on twitter and Reddit, the people who I thought would like that type of film (like on the Oscars subreddits), I was surprised to see that it was not only the worst reviewed best picture film critically (76% on RT, A Complete Unknown was next at 80%, all others were 88% or above), but the audience ratings, IMDB ratings, letterboxed ratings, etc. ratings were all mediocre to outright poor.
So it’s crazy that it’s tied for the 2nd most nominations in history, and it’s not even close to being widely acclaimed by critics, audiences, film buffs, etc., save for a single performance within the film.

I just happened to stumble upon Conclave the other day. Loved it. Had no idea it would be up for an Oscar.
It is well past time for Ralph Finnes to win an Oscar!!!

The recency bias and sci-fi bias against Dune: Part 2 gives me a headache. It is, by far, the best film of the year. It’s not even close. Had it been released in September, it’s all we’d be talking about right now.
Villaneuve was totally robbed.
Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem should be in the supporting categories.
After 2 years of getting it right, they’re back to business as usual of nominating films with “edgy” topics and biopics.
At least Oppenheimer turned the biopic on its head by structuring itself as a dual biopic: a traditional biopic and a biopic told from outside the protagonist’s viewpoint.

The fact that he is nominated in the Leading Actress category is an atrocity. He took away a slot from an actual female actor.

Timothée Chalamet - A Complete Unknown
He was excellent in the movie

I think he has a pretty good shot of winning. He would be the youngest winner ever. There is a little controversy around Brody because of some AI fixing his Hungarian accent, so the voters might be swayed. He is also the only one that seems to be campaigning for it. He will host SNL as the host and musical talent.

Below is a list of the movies I saw.

i don't know that i've ever actively rooted for a woke award to happen for the sake of wokeness, but i am in. I will put money in for this dude's campaign for best actress.
ETA: i hope you all know by now that i am not an anti-woke ranter on M/TV. it's fine, i don't actually care, but a dude winning best actress could be the bridge too far for the rest of hollywood and i want to be here for it.

i saw 5 of the nominated films and Wicked and Dune were the only enjoyable ones.

Emilia Perez was a horrible movie. That is all.

Everyone’s shocked the Oscar’s that said they want it to be more woke and inclusive are rewarding wokeness and inclusivity

I think that was before his transition into cosplay, however.
