Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks is my favorite on my first listen. Damn that was a good song. I wonder if it's because it's the last song I listened to though. It has an epic quality to it. Terrible Love and Sorrow stuck out to me as well. What a great way to open and close the album.

Seaward, I'm now on my third full listen, and it keeps getting better each time..
yeah. that seems to be a quality of all National albums. they all grew on me over time and i never get tired of them.

Words do not describe how much I hate Animal Collective's MPP. An awful, awful album that I truly regret listening to, much less paying momey for.

If you haven't heard Local Natives, "Gorilla Manor" it is worth a listen. It's like Fleet Foxes and Yeasayer had a baby
yeah i've got Gorilla Manor. good stuff. Yeasayer/Fleet Foxes is a pretty accurate description for their sound.

I like MPP a good bit although not as much as their 2 previous albums. It definitely had more filler than Strawberry Jam and Feels IMO, but My Girls, Brothersport, Summertime Clothes, and Bluish were some of my favrotie tracks of '09.

Finished my first listen. They didn't take too many chances, but I don't think I wanted them do. Enjoyed it quite a bit.
My initial reaction to Dr. Dog was much stronger, but like said above, I originally didn't enjoy Boxer all that much, but after a few listens it was my favorite album of 06 (or 07 can't remember).
The Easy Rider of Baloo's music collection?

I just got the new Black Keys from a friend. It's a little longer than most of their albums at 15 songs. I only listened through it once while I was cutting bamboo in my backyard yesterday, so I'll need to let it sink in some more, but I liked it on first listen.
The new Dr Dog is great too, but I don't think it's as strong as Fate all the way through. Some fantastic songs on there though.
And I got my yearly live dose of MMJ last Fri night at Chastain in Atlanta. Rocked my socks off again.

oh shite, how did I miss this thread?
But like others have mentioned, I'm loving the music so far this year and highly anticipating a good listen to The National's new album.
I've really enjoyed Titus Andronicus, Beachhouse, Surfer Blood, and Local Natives albums so far this year. I'm sure I'm missing a few others as well..
Have yet to listen to Dr. Dog's entire album.

Clearly the Royal Tennenbaums.
Last year was the year of musical diddling. Just a bunch of arty projects that meandered to nowhere. I really hated last year, Animal collective and Grizzly Bear in particular.
This year? Totally aweomse. My faith in indie rock has been restored. And thats without listening to the new Dr. Dog, which I'm sure is great.

I can understand Animal Collective, but Grizzly Bear? Come on, Baloo.

Not worth the hype. Had it just been a release, I would've like it a bit more, but after hearing how great it was... well, I was leading the backlash.
I'm not a real big fan of Grizzly Bear. they are just sort of there.

Heavy influence from their Blackroc sessions it seems. Not bad, but certainly different from the minimalism of Thickfreakness or Rubber Factory.
Seems like they pulled more from Big Come Up too
