and damn Season 2 (docks) is dragging, hard to continue...

It's the GOAT season of any TV show, bruv

That was my thought too. As soon as I got interested in the characters, they changed the story. It's still good, but really slow and dry. I didn't find it nearly as good as everyone else. I'm glad I watched it, but it's not something I'm gonna watch again.

You'll appreciate Season 2 a lot more once you finish the show.

I keep hearing how good it is but I am scared to devote the time because of my experience binge watching that piece of crap Lost.

So jelly - Season 2 is polarizing - if you ever rewatch the series, you'll likely realize how wrong your first impression is. I didn't really care for it the first time through (Bunk and Freamon's scene with the ship's crew notwithstanding) - but second time through, that's some of the best acting in the whole show from the dock crew and drug cartel gang.

2nd season was tough to watch for a while. It gets better during the latter part of the season, then 3 & 4 make you forget how lackluster it was

I don't get the S2 hate.
Is it slow? Sure. But that doesn't stop it from being good/interesting.

It's only 60 episodes - and fully 50 of them are fantastic. You won't get turned around by all the twists and metaphysical stuff from Lost (I never watched, but am familiar with some of the problems with the flow of the show).
Quick primer - the show focuses on both sides of the drug war in Baltimore - police and gangsters.
Season 1: Introduces both sides
Season 2: Some would describe this as a detour, as we go to the docks for 1 season, initially as a homicide investigation, but we get pulled into a drug connection.
Season 3: Introduces the intrigue at City Hall and the machinations of the upper echelons of the police department
Season 4: "Corner Boys" - we see the future labor force of the drug gangs as they are in middle school - right at the cusp of making a choice.
Season 5: (Similarly polarizing as Season 2) - we introduce the news room of a local Baltimore paper as it covers a story involving our police characters. Without spoiling, there is also a controversial storyline involving 1 (essentially 3, ultimately) of the main police characters and a newspaper reporter.
I'm not quite in the GOAT category for The Wire, but it is truly outstanding as a total piece of work. It is comparable to similar cable dramas considered by many to be the GOAT, like Breaking Bad, Sopranos, etc.

Just wait to the later episodes in that season.
McNulty had a rather amusing undercover operation that I'd volunteer for in a heartbeat.

I'm probably in the minority, but I liked Lost infinitely more than The Wire. I think I may have actually watched Lost 3 times all the way through.

I won't ruin it, but get ready for Dominic West, who has a distinct UK accent IRL have to fake a UK accent, badly, while in character as a Baltimore native.
One of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Season 2 is a hard season to watch, but season 3 and 4 are much better. And go ahead and save yourself the frustration and just skip season 5 altogether. It's an absurd, ridiculous plot that just takes away from the series. Overall it's a pretty good series, but I'll never understand how others feel it's the best show ever.

I loved season 2. Has one of, if not, the best episodes of the whole series(s2e12 Bad Dreams.)

I was contemplating doing this. Now I am no longer contemplating doing this.

Lost is great. Not good, it's great. If you've never seen it, you should watch it.

Lost is one of my favorite series of all time. I love it.
The Wire is definitely different. Season 2 throws you for a loop because you are not expecting the shifting focus and characters.
FYI...they do this every season. Every season will have a different theme and will add new characters in a different "industry" or aspect of failing life in Baltimore.
