I was pretty disturbed at the brutality of it.

It’s just the sort of brutal shite that could happen back then, it was not easy living for sure
The sad part is during post Civil War out on the plains more Indians were scalped for bounties under the order of the government then Indians scalping white settlers.
The biggest difference in technique was the Indians preferred to scalp while the victim was still alive. Hence why I found it humorous when he told the Lakota they killed the ones who murdered their family and they can scalp or do whatever they wanted to them now. Again Indians preferred to scalp while alive and usually would only scalp a victim they were going to kill not someone else.

Yea my comment didn’t really convey it well but my comment was meant as a defense of the Lakota. Both the white man and the natives were under constant threat from the other committing horrible atrocities against them which can lead to misunderstandings just like happened on the show in a time when communication and travel was slow and limited
I can understand why the Lakota reacted the way they did with the knowledge that they had
To your other points obviously the show isn’t 100% accurate to the time it was set in or cultures involved but I can live with that as long as they don’t go way too far out there with it

Why would they go risk their lives to avenge some indians they don't know? I see why they would tell the group to stay put, but wouldn't it have made more sense for all of them to stay put, and when the Indians arrived, simply point them to where the bandits were. It was the Indians problems, not theirs, but they somehow had to make it politically correct for when Indians did attack the whites, when in reality the commanche would've done far worse than marry that blonde dame. This show could've been great, but it has been a total waste of Sam Elliot's and that black dudes potential.

Remember they just announced 1932 which will be the story of Tim McGraws son
Hopefully that leads to 1972 which is just Lloyd chasing tail on the rodeo circuit.

Be the best show to come out of any of this

Episode 10 dropped today, and there will be at least one more next week.
This week was a little slow but a very good episode. It had a few hints about current day Yellowstone.

Another next week?
I thought 10 was the finale. End credits said it continues next fall.

I stand corrected. I just searched “1883 episodes” and it showed 11, but now I realize 11 is just a trailer

I'm going to give this episode one last shot but I'm going to fast forward any scene with the girl. She's so damn annoying

POSSIBLE SPOLIERS:
I agree. As a season finale, most of the storylines played about about the way I expected. My wife went through a few tissues with some of the characters story arcs.

Same. We enjoyed the series.
If you don’t look deep into picking out the imperfections, it was a all around good modern western. Personally, I think TS did a good job casting and carrying the storyline to the end.

As a father to 3 daughters, the last few episodes were tough to watch.
I really enjoyed 1883 and want to see more.
Crazy that out of all those immigrants, only 4 survived.

OK. I caught up on the last two episodes and they were pretty good albeit revisionist. Props to a good tearjerker finale

Spoiler******
I don’t think all but 4 died. I took it as more died in the trip. Sam Elliot made it to the beach, as well as Thomas and the hot gypsy lady. I took it as some stayed in Wyoming, some died on the trip to Oregon, and some made it to Oregon with Thomas & Sam Elliot

I enjoyed 1883 much better than Yellowstone and can’t wait to see what happens next. Poor Joseph though, he lost his hot wife and now has to build a shelter all alone with one leg.
Sam shouldn’t have shot himself on the beach. He could’ve been an awesome grandpa to the gypsy’s kids.

The ones that didn’t head north to Montana were all slaughtered during that voiceover scene (not sure if by bandits or more of those “deputies”).

You think Lloyd (from Yellowstone) is a descendant of Joseph, and that’s his deep ties to the Dutton family?

What story archs? The thing this show lacks most is character development.
