Is this secretly Michael Bay's best movie or at least on par with his 90s run?

I watched it for the first time in years recently and then did a deep dive again into the attack. Apparently from the interviews with Paranto, Oz, etc., the movie is basically as accurate as a Hoywood film can be. The Krazinski role is amplified just a little but not by much.

It's extremely well done. It also infuriates you to no end.

It didn't do well at the box office and was overlooked because it came out in the middle of his Transformers run but its easily one of his best.

If you've seen enough interviews and podcasts with ex-Navy Seals, Green Berets, snd other special ops guys Bay absolutely nailed the casting on the operators. They all had the right build snd demeanor and prescense.

I'd almost agree with this as his best recent film, but I think 13 Hours is a little tighter and has the action you want from him as a director. Both are overlooked gems.

Love this movie.

Saw it while I was deployed in a packed theater on base in the middle of the desert.

Stunned, pissed off silence as 300 military members walked out of the building after it ended.

Awesome movie. Really well done all around. Well-acted, great action, seemed grounded in reality, etc.

I even bought Krasinski as a military badass. Although it was hilarious seeing Jim and Roy from The Office as badass pals though. I thought Pablo Schreiber (Nick Sobatka from The Wire) was awesome in it.

I actually thought about this a week or two ago and said I would watch it again soon...may have to now because of this thread. It's great.

people legit hate this movie and i don't know why. i loved it

i'm guessing it had the "bay stigma" and that alone turned people off

I think this is the first time I've seen you say something nice about a movie released after 1967.

I've never seen it, but I remember when it came out that I had zero desire to see it. I kinda hate Mark Wahlburg though, so that may be why. I am actually kinda surprised to see this much praise of it in this thread...makes me wonder if I should give it a shot.

I don't think I'm going to be able to sit through this movie until HRC and the rest of her criminal gang are held accountable.

I haven't watched it in a while, but when I did watch it I remember feeling let down because while the movie all but exposed Hillary's, Rice's, and Obama's lies, it almost goes out of its way to make sure these three pieces of filth are never mentioned. Unless a viewer was already familiar with all the lies these scumbags told after the event, they wouldn't realize what traitors and filth Hillary, Obama, and Rice are. I wish the film would have ended with the lying testimony Hillary gave, the lies Obama told to the U.N., and all the lies Susan Rice went around and spread on all the Sunday morning political shows.

Maybe my memory is off, but that is what I recall thinking. I don't recall one mention of Hillary. I'm going to take another look at it this weekend.

No... the movie is far more effective leaving that out.

As presented, it's not a partisan film. It simply shows what happened at the embassy that day, and to the best of my knowledge nobody is refuting anything. The film doesn't give judgement, it displays "evidence".

If you add in all the after-testimony, then it becomes "partisan".

I think it's better to leave things up in the air, so the curious viewer can go look things up.
Did this happen? Why, yes it did.
Well, what happened as a result? Oh, they blamed it on that... that makes no sense at all.

It's kinda like movies about 1930's Germany, and why the Nazi's rose. When you toss Hitler into the mix a lot, then you think the Germans are bad guys and anti-Semitic. But if you go from the heavy Depression issues, and the rising Marxist anarchy, then you can see why a sizable chunk of the population would embrace an anti-Marxist movement preaching pride in the country. Nobody cared about the bad sides, they only wanted a happier, safer life.
