Western Europe is one of the few places on Earth that never had slavery. (Yes, white countries). And the British Empire/Navy was about the only military force in human history that actively tried to stop slavery.

You must be talking about the Slavic slaves Muslims and Africans took from the region. You know where the term slave originated?

Well, slavery was a real thing, and it was bad. A movie that depicts it isn’t saying all white people are bad.
There are too many people on this site who would prefer that slavery or Jim Crow never be mentioned…

It’s a sensitive topic that evokes a lot of emotion out of people.
The film doesn’t try to be preachy or political. It simply tells the story that’s true to the book.

quote:Not to mention he was the first Marshall of Washington DC and likely the most photographed man of his era.
Well, he largely taught himself to read, escaped to freedom, fought off would be kidnappers and became a leading proponent of abolition of slavery and equality for all, so some people would call a biopic of his life woke propaganda.
He shouldn't have been so woke.

Really? Can you show me when England, France, Spain and the other western areas of Europe had slaves? (Feudalism isn't slavery) and Muslims enslaving people in Spain and Portugal doesn't count.

Don’t bring those facts in here, slavery only existed in the southern U.S. and was ended by MLK in the 60s all by himself. The only slaves on earth today are NBA millionaires and if you don’t believe that you’re a confederate Nazi.
