One of the greatest movies ever made. FIlmed almost exclusively in a single room.

I'm with you. Not saying the acting or directing is bad, necessarily. But the script is such a blatantly stacked deck. Every thing and every character so carefully calculated; a self-serving affirmation of the intellectual lightbringer. Always rubs me the wrong way. Just like I'm not a fan of Eisenstein. Not the kind of movie I go for. Whenever there's a 'message' movie and characters become stand-ins for soapboxes, I just bristle. If I feel like the screenwriter is turning things into a lecture, my involvement / investment in a storyline just immediately evaporates.
Give me a cowboy movie instead. Or a movie with some dancing girls. You can never go wrong with dancing girls. "12 Angry Men" should have had a scene with some Berkeley-esque dancing girls inserted in there somewhere. That could have perked it up some.

I agree with this but it’s an awesome movie.

I prefer Trial By Error, S2.E13 of Murder, She Wrote. Jessica is the foreperson who rightfully convinces the jury that the accused is innocent of the murder for which he is being tried but, spoiler alert, guilty of his wife’s murder. His liver admits as much upon questioning in the courthouse by Jessica and the prosecutor. Jurors include the Skipper, Gene Evans, Tom Ewell, Vicki Lawrence, Les Nesman, and others.

While the script is mediocre, the acting pulls it through. Sometimes it is the most amazing thing to just watch actors perform their craft. Glengarry Glen Ross is the same way. The story is not interesting at all, but the acting is god-tier.

Can't understand the praise for this movie. Preachy 'GODDAMMIT I"M ACTING' shite with the production values of Perry Mason.

I am likely in the minority but I enjoyed the remake a lot more than the original

compared to the last 30 years yeah
considering the context of when it was made, it's underrated if anything.

Lee J Cobb was you and me. Henry Fonda was one of them.
