I kind of agree with this. I was an absolute Bond nut in the 80's when ABC used to show a different Bond movie every month or so. Ever since they started with Pierce Brosnan, they have tried to turn Bond into an action hero. Casino Royale was really good IMO though.

It has taken so long for the next Bond because of the whole bankruptcy mess but Bond is back on track.

I agree Casino Royale was a great movie but all of the goodwill built up by that movie was utterly wiped out by one of the most ridiculous Bond movies ever and that is saying a lot.

Water??? Let's steal the water from poor people!

Then lets go hang out in the absolute middle of nowhere in a hotel that is nothing more than a BOMB.

Did I mention the evil plot was to steal water from poor people who could never afford to pay any price let alone some massive amount.

The movie was garbage and anyone that tells me it was a great popcorn flick needs to be kicked in the groin until their ability to decipher crap from real entertainment comes back to them.

The South Park Manatees do actually exist but in their spare time they wrote the last Bond film.

I agree with all of that, the whole premise was far fetched.

Bond 23 is suppose to come out Christmas of 2012. Rumor that the movie will focus around how Bond meets Q.

The next Bond girl is supposed to be Berenice Marlohe. LINK

Casino Royale was terrific. Quantum of Solace was eh.

I would have to say this franchise has run its course. Daniel Craig has been pretty good in the role but it would have been better had they cast him earlier.

To all those who think Bond isn't as charming:

Labeling into "Modern Bond" meaning Brosnan and Craig, and Old Bond meaning Connery, Moore, Lazenby and Dalton isn't really fair to the franchise.

Not one single Bond as a perfect record of a great movies (yes there's even Never Say Never Again). Bond has been a great character BECAUSE he has some different movies, with different tones. I think there should be more franchises with such a diverse run (or starting to employ this kind of style for something like Batman post-Nolan).

Casino Royale may not be the quintessential Bond film, but it was a great outing for action and espionage, which is one piece of a Bond movie. Sure it wasn't your normal, cocky, self-assured Bond, but it was supposed to be a reboot. And it worked.

I mean can you say you aren't happy with Craig but say nothing of the worst of the Moore films? And that was in the "old days," right?

I grew up on Connery Bond. Best Bond by far.

I think with the recent move by Hollywood to move away from the campy and more toward the artsy, we lose some of the old charm.

Everything is so serious now...honestly, I loathe Craig as bond.

It may just be personal preference, but Brosnan was a million times better.

I would love to see them use a different big-name director for wash film. Mended for 23, the a new guy for 24, ect. Imagine a Bond film by Sam Rami, the Wachowski Bros, Tony Scott, Michael Mann or (jizzinmypants) Christopher Nolan.

The would have to use the same core actors and follow what Bond is supposed to be, but could run wild within that framework.

Never Say Never Again isn't a part of the official Bond franchise so I don't even count that one. It's essentially a remake of Thunderball.

And Connery's record is about as perfect as a Bond actor can get. All six of his films are considered essential viewing for any casual Bond fan:

Dr. No
From Russia with Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball
You Only Live Twice
Diamonds Are Forever

Those are all pretty good films.
