Most people aren’t the violent type and there are plenty of people who have paid little heed to the mesaaging. And I say good for them.

Life is a risk. Don’t be stupid and chances are high you’ll be fine. You can be careful and still die in a car accident. But if you don’t drive 100, that chance goes down. Same thing with this.

Non-Power 5 school seasons get cancelled.
Power 5:
No tailgating.
0% - 25% fan capacity depending on conference.

Goodness gracious, this is dumb.

Do you seriously think that Conference USA, AAC and Sun Belt schools sit on the sidelines while schools 50-100 miles away, and even closer in some instances, play a full season? There is absolutely zero chance this happens.

Still zero?

But you also have a large amount of people saying that btw Thanksgiving and Christmas is going to the 3rd wave of Covid so you can’t really push it back.

I’m not saying any of what I said there is reality but saying that’s what some are projecting.

I think football isn’t happening this year. I feel terrible for the athletes and I don’t know how’ll the NCAA will handle the seniors and how they’ll then translate to the NFL afterwards either.

It’s a huge fricking mess.

15% here, and that being them moving it to Spring.

I'll go with 30% that they'll play at least a few games this fall.

Y’all can all thank your benevolent overlords in government and your betters in academia for the shitshow we find ourselves in right now. The fact anyone is shocked by record cases after the entire nation has been shut down for months is retarded. What did they think was going to happen?

Should’ve never shut down, we wouldn’t be dealing with this bullshite we are now.

But given the current circumstances, the only way a season of any kind happens is with an acceptance of risk by school officials — including notoriously risk-averse presidents — that is much higher than it is now. It would require less focus on the number of positive tests and more focus on how many people are symptomatic. It would require less reaction to case numbers and more attention on hospital capacity. Because if students return to campuses, there will be cases. A lot of them. The data say the cohort that includes college students has a very low incidence of severe symptoms, but college students also will come in contact with older college professors and university staff members. They will come in contact with their own parents.

“Right now, I don’t see a path in the current environment to how we play,” said a Power Five athletic director. “I’m confident we’ll get back to what we all think of as normal, but it may be a year before that happens.”

quote:

“Ultimately, no one is playing football in the fall,” said a high-ranking college official. “It’s just a matter of how it unfolds. As soon one of the ‘autonomy five’ or Power Five conferences makes a decision, that’s going to end it.”

It will happen in some capacity
Prepare for last minute cancellations on travel days and rescheduling if necessary
Also possible season doesn’t finish if it returns in fall as predicted
They should be proactive with shortened season with. Playoffs wrapped up week after thanksgiving

NFL will happen (professional athletes just going to work, this is effectively just the same as the rest of us going to work).

Colleges are already moving to on-line only for the fall semester. Hard to justify student athletes on campus without their classmates - above all the NCAA must protect the concept of "amateurism" with the players. If on-campus attendance is the norm for the spring semester than there may be a short spring season, conference only with no bowl games.

For a lot of schools, fall camp opens in the next 2-3 weeks.

There is no way this current wave will be over by then. Most of the deaths associated with COVID will occur in that time frame.

Season will at the least be postponed.

If that unfortunately is the case, I wonder how many fans will show up to tailgate regardless on Saturdays?

When push comes to shove most schools are going to need the money football generates. Stadiums might be at quarter or half capacity but games will be played.
