If you build it, they will come, including Major League Baseball.
Under a backdrop of corn as high as an elephant’s eye, the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox will play a regular season game Aug. 13 next season on the diamond in Dyersville, Iowa, where the movie "Field of Dreams" was shot in 1988, multiple sources told SI. The game will be broadcast by Fox.

The venue will feature more seating than it did in the movie, when Ray Kinsella, a corn farmer played by Kevin Costner, included a small bleacher section on the first-base side of the baseball field he carved out of his cornfield. Later this month MLB will begin construction on a temporary, 8,000-seat ballpark at the site.

This is actually pretty cool. I wonder if they will play it without an outfield fence though?
They should. Ground rule doubles all day.

I’d love to go. Ticket prices will probably be through the roof on resale market.

Ticket prices
With only 8,000 seats I could see tickets going for $5,000 and up.

Kind of lowers the awesome level a little

Should be played with the original bleachers only.

Costner should throw out the first pitch.

They better not erect a fence( other than to keep fans off the field, and they better introduce the teams with the players emerging from the corn field.

It would be a bummer if you couldn't see the corn. If there is an outfield fence, I hope it is small.

Lose the berm in left field. Is the batter's eye necessary?

Some dude should just randomly walk out of the corn field dressed like Shoeless Joe during the 7th inning stretch.
This is pretty damn cool though. My only thought is if they are going to have 8k seats, the corn field isn't going to be the outfield wall, which takes away from it a bit.

Well that rendering is disappointing.

Wonder how much the homerun balls launched into the field will fetch from collectors

The renderings just suck so much. No need for a big digital score board, or the batters eye or the berm, or the fences in front of the corn.
Have an old manual score board with a guy or two up on it updating it by the inning, have the corn as a backdrop and the easy ground rule double.
It’s a neat idea but they just take something beautiful and make it overly corporate.

Yeah, it looks like they will be playing a game NEXT to the Field of Dreams from that.
