LINK

Not exactly a life sentence even now but something

Under that initial sentence, which the court called "shockingly lenient," the double-amputee runner could have been released on parole in mid-2019. Now, the earliest he'll be eligible for parole is 2023

I think the segment that I watched earlier said something about his initial sentence being basically house arrest for 6 years.

wow?

you mean, Yessssss!

Dickjaw killed that poor girl, and they tried as hard as they could to get him off, w/o jail time. They caved to outside uproar.
Even her Family asked that he not face any jailtime.

Still messed up that their courts are made up in such a way that sentencing can be extended without any new/additional charges.

I don't know what you're talking about. Her family is the one that pushed for this.

Ms Steenkamp's parents were "emotional" as they watched the ruling at home on TV, a spokeswoman said. "They feel there has been justice for Reeva. She can now rest in peace," Tania Koen told Associated Press. "But at the same time, people think this is the end of the road for them... the fact is they still live with Reeva's loss every day," Ms Koen said.

During the trial, they asked that charges be dropped. I watched the trial, they were adamant that he was not guilty.

You sure about that Chief?

BBC News
quote:

The parents of Reeva Steenkamp say "justice was not served" after South African athlete Oscar Pistorius was acquitted of murdering their daughter. June and Barry Steenkamp told NBC News of their "disbelief" that the court had believed Pistorius's version of events.

quote:

But in the interview with NBC, June Steenkamp said: "This verdict is not justice for Reeva. "I just want the truth. He shot through the door and I can't believe that they believe it was an accident."

His appeal of the verdict does not have a leg to stand on.
