I get it.... Texas Tech football is remarkably unaccomplished: zero AP top 10 finishes in their history.
This year's team looks great. But, they really play nobody. Kansas, Arizona St is the best they've got.

I’m an A&M/Baylor guy and I’d be fine with it.

Their fans were some of the trashiest in the country back in the 00s, but most of their grads are great salt of the earth people.

Also, it would be kinda cool because they were insanely obscure till Leach came along and made them relevant.

Every team that has won has paid players. Take your pick. The best always did it and now everyone can do it

The legacy of Leach, the guy who finally made them relevant has a former player who ends up a billionaire and made them relevant again

They just won't have the talent level to win against a top quartile SEC team.

FSU beat the shite out of Bama. That same FSU lost to Virginia. Virginia lost to NC State. NC State lost to Duke and an awful Virginia Tech. Duke was destroyed by Illinois and also lost to Tulane. Virginia Tech's only wins are against NC State and Wofford.

Are you really trying to claim Tech would have zero shot w/a team that got it's arse beat by decent but not great ACC team?

This part I missed. Who is the wealthy former player?

People were saying the same thing about LSU in 2003

The public wasn't so mad at LSU, they were mad at the computers....

These nobodies in their Momma's basement who published their "secret" algorithms from their Commodore 64 on CompuServe...

So the public said no thanks to the unvetted nerds....(they could tell their computers to say anything with no scrutiny) and the computer poll hobby was scraped by the BCS because of its absurdity and public outcry.

Which is why we got the phrase the "People's Champion" that year after the Rose Bowl.

They'd still have to beat everyone in the playoffs, what's the problem?

Tech winning would probably be good for CFB. It would mean the SEC / BIG 10 cartel does not have the grip on championships that everyone thinks they have.

Haven't watched wrestling since I was a kid in the 60's to get that reference.

Don't understand why Texas Tech would be undeserving. I know they signed a bunch of transfers, but so did LSU. Ohio State won last year after doing that. Seems like a smart thing to do.

I don't think TXTech has enough to win the CFB Playoff, but I could be wrong. I they made the playoff and won, they'd be deserving.

Wouldn't Texas Tech winning it all JUSTIFY this postseason dog and pony show?

I mean if Ohio State or Georgia are just gonna keep winning it all, why are we accepting this nullification of the regular season to sit through sham games in January?
