No one lives in the city limits. There’s 158k in the parish.

Fun fact. Toby Caston lived in the Wossman attendance zone. A wealthy Neville booster moved him in to a garage apartment behind his house in the Neville attendance zone. This guy was also a Tulane alum and thought they had an understanding that he would sign with Tulane. At the last minute Toby said not so fast Mr. Green Wave and signed with LSU.

Gambino told me the Ambrose boys and Oliver Lawrence were all supposed to be in the Wossman zone but Neville (Charlie Brown, Joe Coats) had the political stroke to pull them across town to Forsythe Avenue. Gambino, who is a plain spoken white guy, did more with less than just about any coach I knew, and those folks at Wossman loved him. Beating JC was a helluva achievement because Wossman had very little in the way of resources. They just had hardworking kids and Coach.

I mean what else do they have lol… ULM, Tech, Grambling, minor league hockey… that’s why you have VIP tables at Neville football games and suites at West Monroe. They don’t have Saints and LSU tickets to spend it on

Wanna bet

I know plenty of ULM and LTU alums that make the trip to Baton Rouge every home Saturday in the fall.

But if you wanted to form good basketball teams, they are positioned in the exact area needed to do such.

How so?

I’ve never been to the area

Poor, overwhelmingly black and a ball. Explains itself. Stereotypical but true all the same. Usually just takes a coach capable of organizing and engaging the kids in their sport.

But those are the schools that lose their best potential players most often… either they go somewhere else or they can’t play for whatever reason

i’m pretty sure they spend on saints and lsu as well, you seem mad that they got it popping up there without latching onto another place like chalmette does us in new orleans

Oliver Lawrence told me himself in Richmond, VA at the LSU Alumni crawfish boil that he lived in Carroll's school district as did his nephew along with many of the Neville greats since the 70s.

A city in which I lived for 14 years, which allows me to confidently say that even having Nola close by couldn’t soften the blow of living in Chalmette. And don’t hit me with the fishing either, speckled trout and redfish can be found in any marsh along the Louisiana coast. ;)
