Larry Brown parlayed that ring into $$$, then fell off the face of the earth.

He had an infant son die a couple of months before the Super Bowl. I think leaving the Cowboys and his support system doomed him.

Did Namath win MVP? He’s in the HOF and his career stats are terrible.

Yeah, I can't let this one pass. Dawson is IMHO one of the most underrated QB's in the history of the game. He does not get enough credit for how good he was.

Go look at his stats relative to his peers of the same time period. His are as good or better than any of his era and make Joe Namath's numbers look laughable.

WTF, man? I don't think there's a QB in the league right now who's as good as Len Dawson was. Yours might be the most ridiculous post I've seen on this site, and that's really saying something. I mean, we've got a guy who posts 3,000-age essays about Katz & Besthoff and shite, but I bet even that guy would disagree 100% with your "Len Dawson" claim.

ETA Len Dawson averaged averaged 8.9 yards per attempt, had almost 10% of his passes for TDs, and put up a 101.7 rating... in 1966. A DB could just grab a receiver and tackle him back then. You think Mahomes is doing anything like that? That guy's not fit to be in the same Oklahoma drill as Len Dawson. What a fricking joke.

It’s worded somewhat vaguely but I think his intention there was not that Plunket started HIS personal career in the NFL with the NFL, rather at that point in time of the rule change he’s saying Plunkett had started his career WITH the raiders.

Him getting drafted would be the start of his Patriots era

Dexter Jackson, an otherwise average body on a great defense that happened to catch lightning in a bottle for one game.

I guess the MVP peyton Manning won vs the bears was dog shite.
Joe Addai should have won.
75% of Mannings passing yardage came from screens.

Why was Elway being outplayed so bad?

Did you see the lines the Redskins had?

Denver had a good but not great defense and little running game.

The right answer will be unpopular but it is Joe Namath. He threw 47 more interceptions in his career than touchdowns. Completion % of 50.1 (slightly higher than Williams' 49.5) passer rating of 65.5 (Williams is better at 69.4).

Holding passing stats from 50+ years to the standards of more recent eras is silly. It was basically a different game when Namath played. He didn't even throw a pass in the 4th qtr of SB III.

It's also worth mentioning that Namath's knees were a mess his entire career, and the Super Bowl season was really the only time the Jets had a good team around him.

Compared to his contemporaries, Namath's stats are mediocre at best.

Namath was a character and good for the game, particularly as TV was becoming a prominent player in the promotion of professional football.

But comparing anything in football across eras is kind of silly. We do agree on that.
