In an effort to grow the sport globally, they’re allowing guys to play for countries they’re connected to even if they’re a citizen of somewhere else. It usually only happens in instances where they aren’t good enough for the team in their country of citizenship.

The highest concentration of Japanese outside of Japan is...Brazil. Lots of Japanese descendants in Brazil.
