Would be hard to root against an American team but I did root for Sharipova to beat either Williams sister.

I wouldn’t watch from Florida if they were playing in Florida. Anecdotally

Usually I hear a lot about this on both the men’s and women’s side. This year it’s crickets. Does anyone know how the ratings have been so far compared to the last few WC’s?

Last night’s match was the most watched US Women’s group stage match ever. 6.4 million, I believe they said. Not too shabby.

Its not the WNBA where no one gives a shite. They'll have viewers and despite the tournament being in Australia they've basically been on prime time both games (game 3 I assume there will be a dip due to start time). They're probably the most popular women's team in the world most likely by a large margin

The biggest issue is that despite claiming they're more popular/profitable then the mens team they're at about 50% of their viewers.

My biggest surprise to me is the Latino TV station viewership.

I know some Spanish-speaking people that are diehard US women’s soccer fans. But that was a lot of viewers, regardless.

I agree. They are probably more beloved than the men’s team, and are the best in the world unlike their male counterparts, but I still don’t believe they are pulling in the same amount of money or viewers.

The men averaged 11.5 ish for the group stage as a reference point.

It's a great thing for the Ladies but it also highlights how much the media shelters them because they obviously shouldn't be splitting a prize pool set by not the US with these easy to find statistics.

People like them more then the mens team in comparison to how other countries like their mens and women's team but they aren't really more popular then the mens team and got to cherry pick a lot of data to ride the media wave. Good for them on the views though. Would probably have even more if they didn't spend the last 4 years complaining and being assholes

I haven’t, and won’t watch a single minute. It’s not that hard, either. I assume they finally pissed a lot of people off. Or it’s the times zones, because that always hinders the real World Cup viewership.

Orrrr, it’s not worse, I am wrong, and still will never watch those grifters ever again.

just remember, womens world cup had to scramble to get 25million for tv rights.

Mens world cup, they throw money at it. 4+ billion for the rights to 2022 world cup.

equal work, equal pay, u know what i mean. 25mil vs 4+billion but pay dem broads

That’s fine if they think I sick I won’t watch them either. I have always followed them but couldn’t care less about this team of people who mostly hate the country they play for. If the just hate me too that’s cool

The weak-minded hypocrisy in this post is just too much

Microcosm of America, faux victims.

USWNT blatantly lies about compensation, US fraudulent media runs propaganda for them, judge proves without a doubt the most entitled women in the US are lying and lose their case.

Media ignores truth and liars are then rewarded because of propaganda pressure.

Only reason to watch is patriotism, now there is no reason to watch.

On vacation with a big group and the only person who gives a shite about the women’s WC is a Spanish dude who is also drinking Bud Light (and wearing a Pulisic jersey) no shite

The US Women actively sabotaged any growth their own sport could have.

It’s ashame, but the rapinoe’s really damaged their game.
