I'm glad the Pelicans got a good player, but this is all a bit overboard. Cousins has been on the trade block for years. I'm sure they could have gotten better deals before, but they really had no choice but to move him. After Gay went down, they couldn't really compete anymore and Cousins wasn't going to sign an extension. Better to bite the bullet and get what they can. They still have a handful of vets they can move and loads up on even more picks.

As for the Pelicans, it's a strange experiment. The league is hardly big man centered anymore and they doubled down on bucking the trend. I hope it works, but I have my doubts about mixing the two together. We shall see..

they could have easily gotten more out of this and thats before we even get to the whole "should have waited until the trade deadline" part

Drummond >> 2017 1st and Hield

so many other teams are chasing for that SF (Butler/George) that they don't want to give up more. we're bidding vs ourselves and we won (Sac-town wanted the 2019 1st too)

I mean u can literally put all NBA teams in a hat, and pick one randomly, then pick three assets and a draft pick, and it will be a better haul then what the kings got. This is the toe of trade u do when u need crack and your plug holding u hostage

I think Boston is all in on this year's draft considering they've passed up Jimmy Butler in the offseason (even if they weren't really shopping him, they were still seeing what was out there) and now Cousins. Boston is playing the long game. Compete with CLE now, compete for titles in 2 or 3 years from now.

YES. the funniest thing in all of this is that, once again, the celtics cant turn any of their assets into a star player

This is worse than the Gasol deal was at the time, before we knew what Marc Gasol was. What an awful deal

Didn't a blockbuster trade get turned down by the league several years back? Seems like the NO NBA relationship is the only thing that has kept them from making a good deal already...

this is almost equivalent to the CP3 trade

Gordon > Hield
AFA = Tyreke
Kaman = Galloway
1st round pick = 1st round pick
