That doesn't make sense. The Pels own pick was a low chance with or without AD.
The Knicks are the only team that had decent odds to actually get the #1, and even those were in the teens. I'm very far from sold the Knicks would trade a guarantee of Zion for AD, though.
Heck, the Knicks don't have a shot at Zion and they don't appear to be bidding on AD with the #3.

Look we’ve beaten this topic to death, but the thought behind waiting for the offseason to trade for AD, was the
1) Pels ownership was pissed and was not going to fold to LAL out of spite. Dell Demps was told to take the calls and continually drive the price up but was not allowed to take the trade. He was a lame duck
2) Boston & other teams would get involved, but mainly Boston
3) Zion was the prize & every indication was that NYK would send us Zion for AD. So add the odds of our pick to the odds of the Knicks pick. Maybe the Knicks would’ve never traded the #1 but New Orleans assumes they would right or wrong
You can agree with that reasoning or not, but that’s why AD wasn’t traded at the deadline

FWIW, for MONTHS now (long before this latest meme from Woj) a certain former Pels board insider has said that Griffin doesn't give a frick about Kuzma.
