Wait for the Colts, Raiders, Jets, Commanders, or Panthers to offer you the moon and trade down. The Bears need a lot more than one player to get out of the basement of the NFC North. Take a cue from the Jets draft (just don't draft a Zac Wilson) and get as much young talent infused in the team as you can.

Maybe but there will still be a QB there at 2. Will someone really prefer one of Stroud/Young so much that they trade up to 1? Is one of those guys really that much better?

Houston is going to take one of them at #2 so if you want the other one you are going to have to move up to #1. There are too many teams out there looking for quarterbacks. Someone will make an offer the Bears won't be able to resist.

But that's usually because the team that has the first pick isn't looking to trade it. The bears will be all in on trades. They're committed to building a team around Fields.

Fair point.

The Bears have so much leverage in this situation. Texans at 2 are going to want their guy but you bet your arse they’re going to be weary of their division rival at 4 who also needs a QB. Bears will ultimately let the two of them get into a bidding war for that pick. Unless a 3rd team comes from the clouds and offers the world to Chicago.

@SBN_Ricky
For the record, there would be zero discussion about the Bears trading Justin Fields after the season he just had if he was a white guy. He's the brightest young QB in the league, and he's going to be the best quarterback in Bears franchise history.

I think it's pretty fair to assume the Colts will. I think the Raiders will too.

The only thing it’s fair to assume is both teams will have new QBs next season but what makes anyone think they will trade up for a specific one? The Colts may be happy with to sit at 5 and see who’s there, they may trade back and take Levis. They may go after a free agent like Carr, the Raiders may go after Brady

Raiders like Stroud from everything I've read but doesn't mean concrete.

Bears won't take QB, Texans want Young, so 3rd pick trade up is very possible for Raiders.

But they'll also be in on Brady and a couple other QBs.

Better chances of the Texans trading out of the 2nd spot than getting into a bidding war to move up one spot and losing valuable draft picks.

Yeah that’s nonsense. There is no legitimate discussion about trading JF except for talk shows that need something to talk about.

Now I think Poles would be doing himself a disservice as GM to the organization if he did not consider all options.

Why would the Texans trade out of the two spot? They don’t have a QB…

If they don’t like the ones at the top and or prefer someone they can get later or maybe they go the free agent route, just 3 possible reasons but I think his point was really that they would trade out of 2 before theyd trade up to 1 not that they would definitely trade out of 2.

I have a hard time believing they sit back and just let their division rival jump them for the best QB in the draft.

And who exactly is the best QB in the draft? As Ive stated repeatedly there is no Lawrence or Luck, for all you know the Texans and their division rival will have different QBs ranked #1

Not saying they will trade out of the 2nd pick but that I don't see them trading away draft capital when they still have so many holes. As of right now they have five picks in the first three rounds after taking six last year which gives them a solid base to build on for a team that had next to no young talent just two years.

Yeah but if Ryan Poles does his job than neither team will know who the other teams top QB is. That’s why teams panic and give up so much.

Last year was a bad QB class. You could argue there are 6 or 7 teams who need QBs.

Hard to believe the Texans would give up picks to get back to 1. That would make the franchise look more ridiculous than it already does. They have to stay at 2.

I don’t know to even respond to nonsense like this, you are still acting as if there is one guy and only one. In 2020 Miami didn’t “panic” after they didn’t get Burrow, that sat at 5 and took Tua. Sure they would have rather had Burrow but they still got a QB that they liked. I don’t think there’s a QB as good as Burrow in this draft either. The gap between Young and Stroud is not worth giving up multiple picks.
