I agree. Someone will offer the Bears at least two first round picks. Whether Bryce Young is worth that much in draft capital is a tough call.

Maybe but there will still be a QB there at 2. Will someone really prefer one of Stroud/Young so much that they trade up to 1? Is one of those guys really that much better?

Fair point. I worry about Young's size, but I do think he's the superior QB this year.

Except in week 1 when you played for a tie

I hate this franchise so much

They should definitely be looking to trade out of 1

I agree on both points though I haven’t seen as much of Stroud outside of the UGA game.

2024 is the #1 pick I’d want with Williams

What would you do if you were the Bears GM?

Trade down and draft nothing but offensive linemen.

Do you realize how valuable the #1 pick is compared to the #2 pick?

Yes. Its the NFL. There is a sucker born every minute. Look no further than the Saints abortion of draft trades last year.

Depends on the year. There’s not that franchise QB like Lawrence in this draft.

Yes teams make bad trades all time, but not EVERY time. When’s the last time someone traded up to #1? Again there’s not that 1 guy (at least there doesn’t appear to be at this point) that will have teams clamoring to move up.

No it doesn't. There will never be a year when the #1 overall pick is not a great deal more valuable than #2. There is literally a chart that just about every NFL GM uses when assigning value to a draft pick. The #1 overall is worth 400 pts more than the #2 pick, which is the numerical value of the 50th overall.

In simple terms, if you traded down from #1 to #2 you would expect to be awarded the #50 pick as well, or picks equivalent to 400 numerical points.

You can argue who is available and its a weak draft whatever. That has nothing do to with the numerical value of the pick. Obviously you would likely be able to receive over and above that value if there was a clear cut generational type QB, but unless you are a brain dead franchise like the Saints or have a GM like BoB, there is a lot more value there than at #2.

Trade down

Everyone says this, but it's easier said than done.

You have to have a dance partner willing to practically give up all of their draft capital in order to move up to #1.

But that's usually because the team that has the first pick isn't looking to trade it. The bears will be all in on trades. They're committed to building a team around Fields.

All that matters is who is available the rest is just on paper. The “value” is if you wanted to trade and for that you need someone who wants to trade up for a specific player.

I get what you are saying but if the Texans draft Young at 2 instead of 1 he’s still the same player

But the question is will someone else be all in in trading up to 1? A lot will change between now and draft day but the best guess is Chicago takes Anderson or Carter to replace the defensive players they traded

Houston is a bunch of idiots for actually winning the game. Chicago will have to decide if Fields is their future, but could get a haul from a QB needy team.

I think it's pretty fair to assume the Colts will. I think the Raiders will too.

I am sure they'll frick it up somehow.

Someone will want Bryce Young bad enough to make an enticing trade offer

Trade down with a QB needy team and stock up on draft picks, they need help everywhere much like the Texans.

The Bears defense is solid. They just got hit with a lot of injuries. I agree they should trade the #1 for a slew of later picks to fill needs on offense.
