patrick peterson and terrance toliver for damn sure
He had Peterson's scores flagged.
Toliver had made his mind up that he was coming to LSU and Meyer made up all this information about LSU's poor academics. Toliver calls the LSU staff to tell them he is having second thoughts.
LSU coaches have to go visit Toliver and they bring an academic rep from the school with documentation refuting the #s and claims of Meyer. LSU's staff was pissed.
Meyer goes hard on the recruiting trail he'll say anything to swing a kid to his school. A member of Chad Jones' family told me Meyer bashed about every school in the SEC with "inside information" when they met.
Big 10 needs to adjust or get run over.
I think Meyer got a little star crazy at UF and stopped evaluating kids that fit the system or were that good of players to begin with.

two of the foundations for the SEC's success have been superior recruiting and fan obsession leading to more investment in coaching/facilities
How much of the superior recruiting is related to talent within SEC states is obviously up for debate but the contrast with the ACC seems pretty dramatic

the top of the big10 does support the schools with investment
talent is another issue. they don't have nearly the same amount of talent within their region
Ohio produces a ton, so VOILA, Ohio State is talented

yeah, when i look at the big 10 and their natural recruiting it seems to me tOSU should be the most successful and probably PSU should be #2
what wisconsin manages to do with less is just amazing

I don't think this is about poaching verbals. We all know that's not illegal. They wouldn't report that to Delany. It's something else. I would like to know what that is.

Also it's funny that Brady Hoke says there is nothing wrong with what Urban did.
Not gonna lie, really looking forward to the Michigan\Ohio games being relevant nationally again.

Urban's response:

quote:
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."

Urban Meyer is exactly what the B10 needed.
Big2 Little 10 is on its way back.

Biellima is scared and justifiably so, combine Meyer's ability with the sudden availibilty of the Penn State recruting market makes for the perfect storm resulting in the big one the little 11

Bielema seems to always be whining about something from the opposing team's helmets to being out recruited. He's a bitch

the D carried the '06 team, not Urban's offensive scheme

Meyer has stated Penn State was never in the mix and that he only came back because the Ohio State job came up. At this point it's the place he wants to be as a coach.
Oh, I see. We must always believe a head coach of a school when he says "This is my dream job. There's no other place in the world that I'd rather be."

Bielema is just realizing that Wisky is falling back in the pack of the Big 10. Michigan is back. The Buckeyes will be back sooner than most originally expected. It's going back to the way it use to be and I love it.
I like Dantonio but he's being a hypocrite for bitching too. He was also going after Dodson while he was a Wisky verbal.

FWIW, some of Urban's former players, who are in the Super Bowl, admitted during media day that Urban always showed signs that his heart has always been in Ohio.

I think he was waiting on the OSU job and didnt expect it to be open so quickly.

Paraphrasing from Brian Rolle's interview on the fan:
Even after he verbally committed to OSU, he said that he got texts and phone calls from Wisconsin trying to flip him.
What a joke.

It's not about Meyer getting players to switch commitments. I think it's the negative recruiting. The big ten really has a gentleman's agreement not to go over the top with negative recruiting on other big ten schools. Big Ten coaches generally want players to stay in the big ten region and really negative recruiting against other big ten schools is frowned upon.
My guess is that Meyer is getting personal about other coaches and their lives and health and so on. I can see Meyer telling recruits about Jerry Kill's seizures and Dantonio's Heart attack which is pretty awful considering Meyers heart and health problems.
That's what I believe the coaches will go after Delaney for. I bet Meyer spread rumors about Bielema having a drinking problem which in the big ten is frowned upon. Even though Bo Schembechler had heart problems other big ten coaches wouldn't use it against him.
As an LSU alum I wish more SEC fans cared about academic rankings a little bit more.
