Program doesn’t mater anymore. It’s who bribes players with the most money. College football is a mess currently, hopefully it’s just temporary.

Players can leave after 4 games and not even lose a season of eligibility then leave anytime and want and go play for the rival the next season. It’s a clown show.

It was just mentioned in a highlight that OSU used this game as a scrimmage to work on the pass game.

Barry Alvarez was the only person who knew how to win at Wisconsin and ran the program like a mob boss. He's no longer involved in the program. Perhaps Wiscy should bring back someone with his mentality and how to play.

Barry Alvarez is an ego maniac attention whore and his staying around their program as AD ran off Bielema and they never recovered.

Alvarez had a whole bunch of losing and mediocre seasons, but caught lightning in a bottle with Ron Dayne or would have been considered another mediocre coach. He was .500 in the big ten his last six seasons and posted losing conference records in 2 of the 6 seasons.

Career big ten record of 65-60. Losing conference record 7 of 15 seasons.

Well for some reason he wanted to run the air raid at Wisconsin and abandon the successful identity they've had for like 30 years before him.

Are they known as an athletic program and alumni base that throws a lot of money around?

Wisconsin is one of the wealthiest public universities in the country. How much of that money from donors being tossed into athletics has always been a point of concern and one of the primary reasons Bret Bielema left in 2012. Wisconsin was able to skate through it pre-NIL but it has become very clear, very quickly the dangers of being reactive in the current CFB landscape.

Again, money has never been the issue in Madison. Where it goes and what is made available to football, has always been the question. From what's been said the last couple weeks, (new-ish) Chancellor is finally waking up and there will be an expected influx of money into the football program. Rumor earlier today was this would still be under the direction of Fickell, but there's apparently a contingent of Wisconsin brass ready to move on.

No matter the direction, think we'll find out next Sunday, going into the Bye after Wisconsin gets done losing to Oregon by 40.

If Wisconsin had big money donors that wanted to commit to paying players with NIL, nobody in the Wisconsin AD would be opposed.

This. They had an identity, and they were very comfortable and successful with it.

How many of those games was he favored? It makes a difference.

IF there was any defense of Luke Fickell, he's had his starting QB start and finish the game just 11 times in 32 games as Wisconsin's HC. Considerably bad luck that probably explains some of the betting lines, but he's also been terrible in his own right.

Which sport?

Wisconsin losing 27-0 at home; yardage is 415 for Ohio State and 75 for Wisconsin. Imagine watching your team put up 75 yards at home.

Oh that one.

We’re good, we’re a volleyball and hockey school now

It’s fine, totally fine. No problem it’s fine

I'll give Greg Gard his flowers, too. Has an obvious hurdle of getting Wisconsin back into the second weekend but he's adapted extremely well to the changing landscape of CBB. Has done good things in the portal and really leaned into the international pipeline with some intriguing talent. Need to give him credit for overhauling the offense with the Kirk Penney hire - Top-20 AdjO each of the last two seasons. Let's see if the DNA sticks now that Penney is back in New Zealand but program is in an exciting place after B2B seasons of 3- and 5-seeds.

That’s the only defense and not a minor one, BUT, he made a bad hire in Longo, realized it, made a change and got an OC from the bargain bin and now they are even worse. Speaks pretty poorly about his ability to attract assistants.

If he is still around next year, the only answer is for him to restructure and reduce his pay so they can out and overpay and spend $2 million a year each on a new DC and OC, which I don’t see happening, partly because why would anyone good want to come join a sunk ship?

His buddy Tressel still having a job is yet another thing that speaks very poorly about Fickell

At this point it’s on the Chancellor. She doesn’t care about the athletic department and isn’t going to fire the AD, so, here we are. It’s the 1980’s again.

Hopefully Gard can keep the basketball program afloat.

She spoke to a big group of donors this week. There's a prominent one on 247 that went through some highlights but the immediate expectation from him and Wisconsin's three 247 insiders is that Luke Fickell will be back next year with $30M for the roster and assistant pool. Now, that's very much "in the moment" - When you're arguably the worst team in P4, what's said one week probably changes to the next. I'm in wait-and-see until Sunday after Oregon. Think that's truly when we see where the administration plans to go but... who knows! Maybe it happens today.

I do think Mnookin cares about athletics but she and the AD are so far in over their heads when it comes to it. They got stuck being reactive instead of proactive in the changing landscape, and it bit them straight in the arse. No two ways about it. She basically admitted it, according to donors.

It's not a great situation. I'm nearly done with this program until Fickell is gone. I say 'nearly' because I'll be at Autzen next Saturday
