Well as long as he would like to give it a try. I'm sure it will work out fine.

Interesting article from Windhorst. Mainly because I doubt Gilbert is talking to Windhorst so this is either completely made up or Bron is in phase 1 of making Gilbert look like an a-hole before he leaves.

Definitely. LeBron is gone.

Gilbert is a moron. He refused to give a new contract to one of the best GM’s in the league simply because he’s arrogant as shite.

That letter pretty much killed Gilbert's relationship with LeBron and his ability to attract FA talent in a fell swoop.

He was literally sucking up to LeBron the day before and then turned on him in an instant with the letter. I don't blame LeBron for distrust of Gilbert after that.

The Cavs have been negative recruited over that letter in FA for a while. LeBron has been the draw to counteract. If he leaves...good luck to Gilbert drawing talent on his own. It will be back to trying to win the lottery in no time.

he barely accomplished this feat with lebron james for 11 years on the roster only thanks to steph's ankle.

It's the exact thing Krause said when he dismantled the Bulls.

Krause is a great comparison. He wanted to build the Bulls without MJ. He got his shot and it didn't go well.

This is the sort of hubris that always comes back to bite you.

That's a two way street. LeBron leaving the Cavs stung, but the way he did it was royally fricked up. IIRC, he told Gilbert his decision like 5-10 min before the TV show went on air.

How delusional does Gilbert have to be to not realize that the biggest thing holding back his franchise is him?

i'm pretty sure the biggest thing holding Cleveland teams back is Cleveland

Eh, I think it's legit to believe Gilbert might have leaked it given how he responded. Also, Clevelaand got a good sign and trade deal that was better than anything they could have gotten with advance notice.

Maybe that's a personal matter, but LeBron never publicly trashed Gilbert on the way out like Gilbert did to LeBron. Maybe it sucks to hear like that, but advance notice wouldn't have done anything to mitigate the loss.

Edit: Also, LeBron's loyalty to Gilbert won't matter much to future FA's. Gilbert's turning on LeBron did matter to future FA's.

The sad thing is you know JR is sitting at home thinking he could lead that franchise to a title.

He had every right to be frustrated, but his response was quite immature. With that and given what we’ve seen over his tenure (refuses to resign GM’s, meddling, etc), maybe he’s just not the person whose deserves more than the standard.

Dan Gilbert should’ve sold right after the championship. Value of the Cavs is about to tank.

He's probably thinking "I led them to a chip in 15-16, I can do it again."

If he believes this, he should have started the action by firing Lue the moment the buzzer sounded to complete the sweep.

This stuff is a huge problem, particularly the GM thing. He'll never get a quality front office person because they have no long term stability. Koby Altman might end up being a boy genius GM but it won't be with the Cavs because he won't be here beyond 2019.

Well, since he didn't build one with Lebron, I have my doubts

Gilbert's a retard. Always has been. Had Lebron for like 10 years total and only got 1 title. Dude needs to be quiet.

Bingo. His open checkbook is nice, but that's about it.
