calling his current deal “503 million” is disingenuous at best

Agreed. This article I read noted that 300M+ of that could end up being considered "play money".

quote:

The structure of this deal makes me think it will end up as a six-year, $183.4 million pact before the two sides negotiate a new contract after the 2025 season finishes, which would reduce $319.2 million of this deal to play money.
Comparing this deal to Mike Trout's 12-year, $426.5 million contract isn't realistic, since all of Trout's deal is fully guaranteed, while "just" $141.4 million of Mahomes' deal is guaranteed, and that is for injury only.

Does that dude want to suck the paint off of Mahomes dick or something. What a weird long arse twitter post about his finances.

There’s a whole lane of social media where you worship at the alter of athletes, celebrities, and CEOs by talking about “building their empire” and hustle that got them to the top, etc. LinkedIn thrives on this stuff

This is why it’s important to reply to the person your comment refers to

You’re overall point is pretty obtuse though. It’s obvious what they meant by that

Other than his brother and choice in wife, there really isn't a lot of bad things you can say about Mahomes.

As others pointed out, there is a good chance Mahomes never sees the end of his contract. But, at the same time with the way contracts are going that $50M a year in 2030 & 2031 could be a bargain. Top 7 QBs have an average of $40M a year right now, with a few big names to be signed and the cap is expected to jump pretty significantly in the next few years.

The biggest determents to him hitting the $1B valuation is injury, divorce, or lavish lifestyles. IMO, right now his biggest issue could be how much of his entourage's lifestyle is he needing to fund.

There’s a huge gap there between the end of contract earnings and $1B. Tom Brady has more net worth right now, not including Gisele, and I could see Tom out earning Mahomes to $1B with post career earnings

Looking pretty good now that Tom is getting a $375M deal the minute he retires. Tom will be the first NFL billionaire

It's weird that Brady didn't do any (many) endorsements for the longest time. He probably would have been the first if he had kept up - especially since he'll be making at least $20 mill from Fox now. Obviously not counting Giseles net worth or else they might already be there.

Thanks for sharing this. Before reading this I did not really have an opinion on him other than respecting his talent. It is nice to see him giving back.

At the time his fox contract ends, Brady will have made about $750M in just salary (after taxes probably more like $450M in actual cash).

He has also had some sneaky lucrative and high end endorsement deals for years, including Aston Martin, Tag Heuer, Ugg, Under Armor, and a few more. In 2019 (before he opened up and became more personable after leaving NE and started doing even more endorsments), he earned about $14M in ad deals.

Lets just say he averaged around $15M over the last 5 years, and say $5M the previous 15 years or so, that puts his total endorsment rveneues at about $150M.

Recapping, he's made $335M in NFL salary through 2022, and has made roughly $150M in endorsements so far, and will make another $375M from Fox over the next decade after retirement.

In total, that will put him at $860M in earnings by the time his Fox deal is done.

That figure does not include any outside business investments like his TB12 stuff, or even his pct of jersey and merch sales (in 2019 while still in NE, he made almost $3M from that).

You have to assume he's probably made an additional $15-20M off those endeavors, which puts him right around $900M.

He also probably owns $20M+ (at least) in real estate holdings.

I also have to believe he will invent or invest in some sort of sports drink or health food business when he is done playing, which coild also be extremely lucrative if it is ever get bought out by a major beverage Corp.

In conclusion, Brady will probably realistically become a billionaire when he's in his mid-50s.

Mahomes, though, could probably be almost there by the time he retires in about 10-15 years between his player salary, ensorments and investments, which means he and Brady will probably both hit billionaire status (in earnings) at about the same time.

No, because there are lots of billionaire NFL owners, and at least one of them (Jerry Richardson) also played in the NFL.

Jerry is a former owner and I make more in two weeks than he made in his entire NFL career and I damn sure ain't going to be a billionaire. He made his money in fast food/food service, he did use his ~$4500 bonus check from the Colts for their '59 championship to buy his first Hardees franchise with his former college QB.
