Why was Brock Purdy not drafted until the 7th round in last year’s NFL draft?

If memory serves, he was a 4 star recruit out of high school and Iowa State did pretty well in his years there. Did he not perform very well in the combines or what?

Lost a lot of hype after a disappointing senior year.. doesn’t fit the model most teams have moved towards nor the measurables to compensate.

Hopefully he can keep taking advantage of his opportunity because the game needs outliers

Why was Tom Brady drafted where he was?

He showed a lot of promise as a freshman, and flashed some big play ability. His sophomore and junior seasons were more consistent, but the big plays were rare. He would have been drafted much higher if he left after his Junior season, but that was the weird 2020 Covid year, and ISU had a veteran team retuning for 2021.

He decided to return to school for his senior season to both improve his draft stock and play for a Big 12 championship. ISU was a preseason top 10 team. Both he and the team had disappointing seasons. He wasn’t bad his senior season, but I think the team’s failures combined with his lack of development as a four year starter caused his draft stock to plummet.

He wasn't very good last year, seemed like he got worse every year in college. Weird career

Good question why he became Mr. Irrelevant.

Scouting reports across the board were positive.

6'1"

Strengths:
Accurate passer
Pocket composure
Excellent decision maker
Good ball placement
Throws a very catchable ball
Good timing
Shows anticipation
Able to loft in touch passes
Natural feel; instinctive passer
Leads receivers for more yardage after the catch
Moves eyes through progressions
Mastered his offense
Good fit for a West Coast offense
Very experienced

Weaknesses:
Arm-strength limitations
Not a running threat
Will struggle to avoid pass rushers

There you go. Everyone fricking wants that now out of their QB.

Look at how good and accurate Burrow is but he can't avoid shite. Sack stat monster.

Easier to invest in an elusive QB, than a Berlin wall O-line.

That's why Caleb Williams will be so coveted. His O-line sucked at USC this year but he danced his way to completions.

If you watched him he really did seem to regress every year. He had first round hype as recently as before his senior year if I remember right, and plenty after his sophomore year. He played with decent talent too, Breece Hall, David Montgomery, Charlie Kolar, Hakeem Butler

He was underrated but Shanahan is also as good as it gets as a play caller and schemer and he has tons of talent around him. There is no better position for a QB like him to be in

Burrow is actually pretty elite at moving around and avoiding sacks brotha

He just isn’t Lamar, Allen or Mahomes

The Cajuns broke him in college when they held him to under 150 yards

He wasn’t that good. He had played well so far but I’m not a part of the hype. He is massively overrated. Put Cooper rush on that 49ers team and they are only marginally worse IMO

Wasn't he kind of streaky with some accuracy problems in the last couple of years at Iowa State?

He's probably just not that great. Kyle Shanahan can win with basically any average joe NFL QB.

Surprised the Niners are such short favorites against Dallas. That kind of makes me think Purdy will turn into a pumpkin this weekend.

Yes, paid scouts whose job it is to evaluate football prospects never saw a guy that played at freaking Power 5 school?

How about because he was a marginal prospect that’s doing well because of coaching and the system he’s in?
