Also media: How can we get Zion to James Dolan?

i think AD just got tired of our insanely bad injury luck. the Pels with AD and Boogie would have rolled this year
add in a weak mindset and a very manipulative agent (who COMPLETELY fricked up AD's brand and reputation), and he made a bad choice
now it's tough to back down b/c he's infuriated his fanbase and he looks like a bigger bitch for going back

i think this is sort of a self fulfilling prophecy created by the media, because this is VERY true for the media
hence my main argument as to why this is fake: this is their way to rile up the big markets b/c only the big markets matter to ESPN
they're effectively reverse trolling NYC and LA
I guess. This probably moves the needle more (or at least they think it does) than rational discussions about what this means for AD. Or how they can utilize AD to get pieces to build around Zion, to not frick it up like they did with AD
ETA A small part of me wonders if they are hoping to get enough negative attention on the Pels that they can start seriously discussing the possibility of him refusing to report for the Pels.

yeah i mean they've effectively spread the lies about "big markets" enough to where many weaker minded players still promote it
this would be insanely positive for their ratings b/c of the shite show
i also think that ESPN devolving into guys screaming barbershop talk has disconnected them from the new, advanced fan. when most of the NBA fandom was laughing at the supposedly amazing LAL offer for AD, i don't think the lower-level debate shows had a response

I don't understand why the media love the fact that some leagues (like the NBA) are so beholden to "markets" and should basically stay that way forever in their view, but others (like the NFL) aren't.

The weirdest part to me is that going into the lotto, at least 2 of the potential winners would very very likely send zion to the pelicans in exchange for AD. Both of those teams STILL have a decent chance of trading for AD, and nola has zion.
It's weird as frick that sports media is melting about nola getting zion over nyk, when theres as good a chance as ever that the knicks are still very much in the hunt to get AD.
Like chill with the melts there's still a 90% chance AD ends up playing for in NY, Boston or LA next season. I just don't see what the big deal is when Zion in NOLA and AD in LA or NY has BEEN the most likely outcome for months.

Pels get a replacement for AD.
What? Zion is like a foot and a half shorter than AD.

I’m pretty sure that Kincks fans hate getting punched in the gut almost every year.

but Nola gets both Zion and that "AD package" so it's 'not fair" or something

If you guys were the Pels front office, would you do this deal:
Knicks get AD
Pels get 3rd pick (RJ Barrett likely) and a solid role veteran
Is that enough for AD? Pels would have two young talents on rookie contracts, Jrue, and a bunch of cap space to fill out the roster.

Which comes out as the pels moving up from 7th to 3rd in the draft.
Would the media be melting this hard if NYK won the lotto, pels moved up to 3rd and then NYk traded their package for AD?

i think 3rd and mitchell robinson and either knox or DSJ could get it done but lots of Pels fans won't agree

You're missing another player and like 3 first rounders from your offer

Pels need to draft Zion, keep AD, and sign KD and Kawhi Leonard

One of the things I hate most in sports is the narrative that only big markets matter and that they deserve the biggest stars of today.
The crazy thing is, with the saturation of media today, the opposite is true. It used to be you had to go to a major media market to be a huge star and get the big advertising bucks, while also being close to the media centers. Now, you can be a huge star anywhere. It might be BETTER to be in a small market because you don't have to pay as much to live there as you would in NYC or LA. OK, Sacramento will always suck, even if you're rich, but you're telling me a rich young athlete can't have a great life in friggin' NEW ORLEANS?!

If the Knicks send Knox, Mitchell Robinson, #3, and the next first rounder they can send, then New Orleans should take it.
The Lakers deal (#4, Ball, and Ingram) is a joke. Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, Phoenix, Chicago, Denver, Brooklyn, and the Clippers can all put together better trades than that.

Of course they are melting. New Orleans isn’t a “sexy” market according to the media.
I’m saying this as a Lakers fan but I hope this works for the Pels and turns them into a contender. Would be great for the NBA if a small market team becomes a power.
Happy for the Pels fans. Enjoy it. Only reason they are talking is because they had their ready made story destroyed.
