Boxing is incredibly boring
MMA is incredibly trashy
MMA is incredibly trashy

1. MMA gloves are much more conducive to knockouts than heavier boxing gloves with more padding in them.
2. Boxers don't have to worry about a wheel kick to the ear.

I guess you see what you want to see....

How is this exciting at all?
Because it's as close to a real world fight as fight sports gets and involves a lot of really high level technique.
3. Nice troll.

Watching fight right now.
... ehh, I don't know how much you know about the sport or how much you watch, so in fairness to you, maybe you happened to watch a fight that wasn't interesting.
In truth, MMA fans sometimes find mma matches boring and make similar criticisms to the ones you just made. And plenty of knowledgeable boxing fans find some boxing matches boring, watching the fighters clinch after a couple of jabs, then lean on each other like they're crying on each other's shoulders over a lost family member or slow dancing until the ref tells them to break it up or go get a room.
So, while I give you the benefit of the doubt that you might've seen a boring fight, your criticism is pretty meaningless as both sports have their share of boring and exciting fights.
Personally, I like watching both.
... And trying to call one classy and one trashy is just silly and pretentious. (Boxing fans looking down their noses at mma fans reminds me of the old money broads on the Titanic looking down their nose at the new money broads. Get over yourself.)
If you want to nitpick, mma can easily trace back it's lineage to the classical martial arts in Asia (where it is also very popular) to schools that have pedigrees built up over centuries or longer... as opposed to the imposed pedigree of the Marquess of Queensberry slapping rules and weight classes onto dock workers fighting for money... So, there's that. Why don't we just leave it at: neither iteration of these modern sports is all that high brow where fans of either should deign to look down their nose at the other.
With that, I'm off to go watch some street brawls on worldstarhiphop, so I bid you adieu.

5 minute MMA rounds are too long.

I actually see no reason why people can't enjoy both sports, and their fans get along with each other.
I'm not sure why MMA is always compared to boxing and vice-versa. I like watching people fight. So both sports are okay with me.
There's boring fights in both sports. One is not universally better than the other.
All I know is that I've never seen anyone run away from watching a good fight. If the fight is insane, there's no way some MMA fan is going to say, "Oh, that's boxing... sorry... Trading Spaces is on. I ain't watching boxing."
Be a fan of fighting sports. Watch both. Support both. Encourage the fans of each sport to watch the other.

I personally think that it depends on who is fight in both sports.
Watch two boxers like Floyd that sit back and play defensive, it's boring to an average or non-fan.
Watch an MMA fight like Woodley vs Maia and it is likely boring to the average or non-fan.
Both boxing and MMA can be very exciting to watch with two fighters trying to win the fight by knocking out an opponent. I like MMA way more because of the BJJ and kicks.
If you don't think that a fight like Conor vs Diaz 2 was awesome, then you are probably not a combat sports fan at all.

Because MMA is a work duh

Because in MMA you get fights like Lawler v Macdonald II and Jones v Gustafson.
You don’t get that kind of carnage anymore in boxing. It’s the same reason Mike Tyson was such a big thing.

I give the advantage to MMA because I gave a slight shite when Ronda got her arse kicked the first time. That was good theater.
Boxing hasn't had a character like that since Tyson got beat by Buster Douglas in the 1980's.

I’ve never understood why so many like it

Btw, I would be a fan of standing back up MMA guys that are on the ground not doing anything more often and quicker. Even regular MMA fans aren’t big fans of two dudes laying on each other. If the positions don’t change and no punches are thrown for 15 seconds they should stand them up.

That would certainly lead to fewer submissions.

It's the BJJ, which is boring as frick to watch. In freestyle wrestling and any kind of striking, you're on the offense. BJJ is predicated on not making any mistakes and waiting for your opponent to frick up

Worked shoots in Japan were pretty cool tho.. Volk Han was the man.. Pride started out doing worked matches, which is weird because like 2 years later Takayama nearly killed himself in that match with Frye
