They beat a mediocre Mizzou team at home.

bama vs ole miss debate is much more logical than SMU/bama debate

Oh ya with Missouri’s backup QB
Posted on 12/7/24 at 9:56 am to BOSCEAUX
Neither deserves to be in and hopefully a Clemson squeaker win vs SMU puts an end to this and knocks out Bama.
This is unfortunately the garbage a 12 team playoff is going to bring. Should have at most moved it to 8 teams, but they want their money and saw that no one was caring about bowl games anymore.

Kind of why I started this thread. If SMU loses they should be out. Beat nobody and lost to the only two ranked teams they played. They would be the same as Miami with slightly better losses.

I think bama would beat smu pretty easily. they couldn't stop milroe...I don't think bama would beat ole miss unless we played great. obviously bama could always beat ole miss if the game went our way but overall I think ole miss is definitely a better team overall.

They lost at home to a team that finished 4-8.

And lost to 0 un ranked teams, which neither Bama nor Ole Miss can say since they each lost to two unranked 6-6 or worse teams.
SMU also has more wins than either. Do they are technically two games ahead and should not be punished for playing an extra game while Bama and Ole Miss sit home.

We ain’t going… so who cares

True, there is no way Bama should get in over SMU if SMU loses their conference championship game.

And SCAR
Why is this so hard?
Beating South Carolina by 24 on the road
Or
Bearing South Carolina by 2 at home

This. And it pisses them off even more bc they know it is the truth

Just making the case: Alabama is 4-1 against SEC teams with winning conference records, including a road win at LSU. Losses were all road games. Ole Miss is 2-1 against SEC teams with a winning conference record, including a road win against SC. They are 2-2 if you want to include Florida. They have a home loss to Kentucky. More wins against the winning SEC teams. No home losses. Bama schedule is stronger and has the same record. Apparently who you beat is more valuable than you you lost to. Worst loss is probably Ole Miss at home versus UK any ways.
Alabama is 3-2 vs teams who are .500 or below.

LSU fans are just forever broken. It's particularly bad today across all the boards on this site.

Now do ranked wins That’s why
Now do networks favoritism. It’s all about $$$$$$. Deserving, or not, Bama will sell more seats, ad time, etc.

The actual SOS difference between Alabama and Ole Miss is negligible.
The “ranked” teams argument is misleading, as Alabama’s 3rd win is vs Missouri who has two 30+ point losses and whose best wins are over Arkansas and Vandy.
You can also argue Bama’s winning percentage is .750 vs ranked opponents to 1.000 for Ole Miss.
At the end of the day, the playoff committee claims it uses 1- SOS (negligible), 2- head to head (didn’t play) and 3- results vs common opponents.
Ole Miss and Bama played four common opponents.
The results vs UGA, USC and Oklahoma overwhelmingly favor Ole Miss. The result vs. LSU overwhelmingly favors Bama.
If you consider that the OU and LSU results for both teams wash, at the end of the day -
Ole Miss soundly beat UGA by 18, Bama held on a win by 7.
ole Miss beat USC by 24 in Columbia, Bama by 2 in Tuscaloosa.

If & when LSU starts to win more & Bama returns to the Price/DuBose/Shula/Francione years —- please post your sentiment again.
I remember how miserable Bama fans were during that long period.
