When the G5 gets boxed out of the CFP which is coming in the next 2-3 years, they’ll form their own playoff. All but a few G5 programs who can’t accept they were left behind will be onboard.

Wrong, but that’s ok.

Also this entire thread was started as bait.

Didn't Idaho do this

And it has worked out for them. They are a better FCS team than FBS, and just bean Wyoming at Laramie.

But how much will they each have to pay out when House settles or goes to trial?

You make far more money and get far more exposure playing in FBS than you do FCS.

Never forget that at the end of the day college athletics is just advertising for the school.

The only reason they dropped down to FCS was b/c the WAC collapsed, the Sun Belt kicked them out (along w/New Mexico State), and the MWC refused to take them in. It was going to be nearly impossible for them to get 5-6 homes games a year as an independent due to their location and size so they dropped down to join the Big Sky. It's not like they wanted to go down to FCS. Their hand was forced.

LA Tech is by far the one that stands out. They’ve had some legit teams over the past 15 years. Big numbers. Trent Taylor years. On the flip they’ve also had some awful teams especially of late.

Just saying it would be cool to see these guys duke it out for an actual championship rather than Nola Bowl appearance

This was life back when we had D I-AA. But with all the NCAA changes, that just doesn't work anymore. It was also life before streaming sports. Someone who couldn't watch every single LSU game in their living room was more likely to go to the ULM or ULL game.

Yep, ULL, ULM, and Tech. Y'all mentioned Arky State as well. If I remember correctly, the Southland Conference in I-AA was NLU, Tech, Lamar, North Tx State, Nicholls State, McNeese? Maybe an Arlington team?

Who else remembers?

Your argument would make sense 5-10 years ago but now that the G5 has an automatic playoff spot in the 12 team playoff the G5 can matter now. Look at Texas State right now. They have a HUGE game Thursday night against AZ State at home that could really benefit them to getting into the playoff. The game is on ESPN and it will be the only CFB game on TV that night. G5 programs dream of having this scenario.

A few that come to mind who would be interesting to see at the FCS level are: Louisiana-Lafayette, ULM, LA Tech and Arkansas State.

I remember when Arkansas State moved up and I couldn’t understand why they would go to where they couldn’t win from a place where they won championships. But money was the answer.

Yep, I used to watch many of these teams (although maybe not UNT?) when they came to Ruston and played in the Southland Conference.I was a little kid back then and my parents had season tickets. Those LA Tech-ULM games were pretty intense and a lot of fun.Tech really hasn't had a true rival since they've stopped playing ULM and ULL. And yes, UT-Arlington had a football team back then.

All NCAA divisions are allowed it though.
