Why Doesn't the SWAC Participate in the FCS Playoffs?

they are. they think theyre special enough for their own football championship though. If I were southern I would seriously consider trying to make a move into the southland. just makes more sense.

The conference gets more money by playing in a Conf champ game. They used to but always got seeded 15 or 16.

It's interesting because as it stands, they don't really play for anything. I think a move to the Southland would be great for their entire AD.

Money is the bottom line. They will probably make more in the Bayou Classic than they would make in several playoff games that they would not host. The Ivy League doesn't participate in the playoffs either and they seem to be fine, although some ivy supporters would like to see it change.

The real reason is $$$$. It costs money they don't have to participate in the playoffs and in years past it has conflicted with the Bayou Classic which they actually make money on.

I can remember when Grambling played McNeese in LC when they were dominating the SWAC with Bruce Eugene as their QB and they got beat by like 30.
