Perhaps not. But the next upcoming event for the waste of resources known as Talladega is in October. Couple with the Redneck Mecca that occured Sunday, that is twice a year. But we really need a 4 lane interstate going there when Shelby County is still two lanes.

How about a track on the south side of Osyka that straddles the state line, half in Mississippi and half in Louisiana?

They tried to build in Northern Tangi in the Kentwood area. Had land secured to purchase and all but it never got any further than that.

A road course on the streets of New Orleans would work for F1, Indy, and Maybe NASCAR, but the lack of corporate sponsors would doom it. I think a race through the streets of New Orleans would have large appeal.

Right, so Louisiana is full of fair weather sports fans.

Let’s see how long that season ticket streak lasts while the saints are tanking after this season.

Louisiana isn’t a southern state. NASCAR is built for the genteel and Deep South. Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas are the Deep South.

Been there. Done that. Failed miserably.

Depends? Are you willing to waste hundreds of millions in government resources to build 3 or 4 lanes of interstate going to and from the site that is used twice a year?

In the early 1990s NASCAR wanted to build a track between Talladega and the western states on I-20 and chose Ouachita Parish just west of West Monroe. It literally was being finalized, but the dumbass local politicians and the mayor of West Monroe screwed it up because of greed and taxes. NASCAR said screw you and went to Ft Worth and the rest is history.

Isn't that typical of Louisiana?

Just build stands around the traffic circle and cut down the trees in the middle to make the infield. It'll be the next Bristol

That would have been a near ideal location. There is a strange large gap of Nascar (and Indy) track coverage in the south- from Memphis-Little Rock-Houston-New Orleans-Mississippi. The nearest track for most here is Dallas, and driving in that metro is a nightmare. Talladega is a full days drive, Daytona more than that. I've read where there's talk of building one a little south of Jackson, but don't know how realistic that is. It's just strange to have about as much opportunity to access a race in this area as you would have in California.

Back in the '90s, when NASCAR was exploding, poeple were spreading rumors that one would be built in Livingston Parish. Then, the rumor changed to a world class horse race track. Then it changed to a Disney World like park.
Then it changed to Buc-ee's, and Ruston won.

Louisiana loves football more than the aforementioned states, and La is intelligent enough to understand baseball.

I can see the arrogance oozing through this post.
