Why does college football have such a boring post season?

Everything that is great about the regular season, seems completely absent in the post season. Not even getting into the meaningless bowls, and now completely watered down major bowls. The playoffs just seem cold, plastic, over commercialized. And the games are rarely intriguing because of the disparity and consolidation of talent. For your average, casual, just general college football fan, it's not a very enjoyable product.

The semis this year were one of the most entertaining days of football in years.

People complained about uncompetitive Super Bowls for a generation too.

Yeah, semis were fantastic. Not every game is going to be a barn burner. But, I do think 12 is going to be too much and people will have fatigue by the end. But, I could be wrong.

Getting more games on campus would help with atmosphere instead of neutral sites, but I’m afraid that isn’t going to happen. The new playoff structure with some teams having 4 neutral site games in a row if they play in a conference title game isn’t going to help for the average fan

Talent is too consolidated at the top. ESPN driving the whole season around the CFP doesn’t help. That’s not what makes college football great

We’ve seen a minor league NFL and it never works (USFL,XFL etc). That’s what CFB is becoming and it sucks. CFB is at its best when rivalries dominate and there are several teams competing for and winning a championship over a 5-10 year period

I remember growing up it seemed like every year the NFC stomped the AFC into submission by halftime in the Super Bowl.

Same. 12 teams waters it down too much. 2 and 3 loss teams will be getting in. I thought 6-8 teams was the perfect number.

Terrible take with the semis we just had (and my team lost in the semis).

And previous years have seen "meh" semis followed by absolute classic title games.

It's football. Not every game is going to be an instant classic, nailbiter of a game. Especially in college.

The semis were the most entertaining since the CFP began, both of them could have gone either way right down to the wire. You don’t like the result of the NC but no rational person can say the semis were anything other than entertaining.

I do think using so many bowls for a 12 team playoff is a mistake. I’d structure it with 5-12 playing in the home stadium of the higher seeded team, then the winners of those playing the top 4 in their stadiums. You cannot tell me a couple of weeks of on campus playoffs would not be incredibly electric.

Then the final 4 plays out exactly as it does now with 2 of the NY6 hosting the semis and the CG. I don’t like the idea that some teams could play in 3 different bowl games in one postseason.

Games on campus is what makes college football great. It's shooting itself in the foot if it doesn't move these playoff games on campus.

So what did you dislike about the semifinal games?

I think the lead up to the 12 game playoff in the last week or two of the regular season is gonna be some of the most intriguing sports moments and discussion we will have in sport. I hope they keep the rivalry weekend at the end of the year.

Think, for example, about Florida vs Florida state with getting into the playoff on the line

Think about lsu vs texas Aggie to get in

Speak for yourself, I thought bowl season was chock full of entertaining games. You had a few duds but most of them were fun to watch.

The title game was a blowout, but the semis were awesome. And it's not like there haven't been playoff or super bowl blowouts before in the NFL. Jags beat the Dolphins 62-7 in Marino's last game, Bucs blew out the Chiefs and Raiders in both their titles, the Broncos alone have been blown out in the SB in three different decades

shite happens sometimes in competitive sports even at the highest level. Get over it.

Aren’t they saying that at least the first round games will be at the higher seeded teams home field

They need to extend the regular season until the weekend before Christmas.

Having a month off between final regular season game and a bowl game is too long
