I get what you are saying IF you are saying its more important to have a wing player that can score vs a PG, you must mean that, but if you can have both why not?

Rubio is fun to watch but he isn't a great NBA player!

good enough for top 5 in both categories.

you do realize there's more than certain aspects to being a top PG.

There's the distribution aspect (he's one of the best), there's scoring when needed (he's one of the worst), there's defense (he's pretty bad if you ever watched them. Getting steals doesn't mean you're a great defender just as much as getting blocks don't make you a great defender).

There's a reason Stockton was a great PG. He distributed unlike any other PG in the league, he was able to score when needed at a high rate (.608 TS%; .515/.384/.826), and he has the steals and drtg.

gotta use obvious facts to prove obvious points to someone who thinks rubio is a top 5 PG based off 2 stats right?

You don't need to say ANYTHING to someone that thinks he is a top 5 NBA PG.

There are some things I wouldn't say out loud.

Chris Paul not being elite is one of them .

Rubio can't even stay on the floor in the 4th quarter because teams shade off him so much and he doesn't make them pay. A "top 5" PG doesn't get subbed out for JJ Barea in late game situations.

Anthony is a type of player that can carry a team and will them to a win in the 4th.

CP3's game is more on distribution and ball movement. He'll score, but down the stretch it isn't as easy for him to score as it is for someone like Durant, Anthony, or James who are just larger and more athletic.

because as history has shown, a dominant big man or a wing scorer(such as anthony) are able to carry teams to a championship and are more important than a point guard. CP3 and other point guards have to rely on others to have success, they can't do it all by themselves. A player like Anthony should be able to carry his team farther than he has, thus all the deserved criticism he gets.

Because people feel like Carmelo could be even better than he already is with a different mindset, CP3 is optimizing his abilities and it just isn't enough.

Even Durant is getting more heat

The expectations for Durant are higher, especially with winning the MVP. There are many people that have been saying for years that Paul would never be the best player on a championship team.

Carmelo has shown that he can play with that "mindset" when he has teammates capable of carrying some of the load
