re: why do so many people hate duke but not unc?

They've been down since 2006. Shaun Livingston and Kris Humphries really screwed the program over, and it took K a while to get over it. Next year could be another mediocre season, depending on what Henderson decides to do, but his 2010 class is starting to resemble some of his better recruiting efforts.

From 1980 until the 1996 draft, GTown was a top program.

I would assume that Henderson is as good as gone.

Assuming he does leave, I dont know if it'll be a mediocre season, as they will bring back every other major contributor. If they get any freshman help, they'll probably be about as good as they've been the last few years. Good regular season, possibly top 10, probably in the top 20 range, but no real threat come tourney time.

It's not that Coach K is dirtier than anyone else, he's not. It's that he's held up as some sort of exemplar, when he's just as dirty as everyone else. I hate the hypocrisy of Duke.

I also really hate their style of play. I think Coach K hinders his players development by their absurd flopping on every drive to the lane. It's not good defense and even worse basketball. It's criminal they get so many calls. Even last night, they were getting charges when they weren't even close to set or even enough contact to justify the call, but the guy falls down like he got shot.

Also, let's be honest, people hate Duke because they are good. No one hates Clemson. Duke being good focuses hatred on them. I also love how Duke insists there is no rivlary with Maryland because we're just some dirty public school beneath them, despite having the second best record against Duke of any team in the past 10 years next to UNC. The Terps have sucked the last three seasons, yet Maryland still plays Duke about .500 (except this year, when we got punked).

I hate their pompous arrogant flopping cheating hypocritical bastards. I also especially hate how they are always whining to the ACC because the Terps were too mean to Duke. The band's not even allowed to play "Rock n Roll" anymore because the Terps hurt Duke's feelings. Grow a pair, you sissies. you can't brag about your great student section and then whine whenever anyone heckles you. Classic dish and can't take it.
