It is 75 and sunny in Houston, Texas right now. It was sunny and 71 in Arlington yesterday. What is the point of spending millions for this feature when it is never used even in perfect weather? It it’s supposedly to keep the crowd noise in, fine. Just build a fixed dome. NRG’s roof has not been open in 4 years.

Yeah it's pretty dumb. I know I would never want an open air stadium in New Orleans.

Because it’s extra millions for the contractors. That’s what happens when you’re spending Other People’s Money

Those are reasons for having a dome.

Why spend extra to have a retractable roof when it’s closed all the time for events

I went to an Atlanta United match in Atlanta in late October and the roof was open. Weather was great.

I am going to say... Because retractable roof stadiums allows fans to have the outside experience, but when conditions are not favorable to play a game outside, they can close it up without having fans no attend games because they don't want to be in the weather elements.

Right I don’t mean that no one ever opens the roof. But as a rule they seem to be closed more than they are open, even with good weather.

Well admittedly I notice Houston more since I live here. As I say though, Jerryworld was closed yesterday for the Big XII title game with ideal weather.

I don’t get it either. Complete waste of $$$$

Same with Minute Maid in Houston as well

The standard should be to have it open, unless the weather makes it so that you have to have it closed.

As opposed to how they do it now where having the roof closed is the standard and they will open it up on the RARE occasion that the weather is so perfect that it's nicer outside than inside.

They probably kept it closed to guarantee that no outside factors could affect a championship game.

As were both ends of the stadium, it felt great in there. Got a little breeze passing thru occasionally

ATL likely wouldn’t be allowed to host Super Bowl without the roof. Last night’s game would have been miserabale without the roof.
Having the roof allows you to have Final Fours.

I was at the game yesterday in Jerry World, conditions were perfect to open it up. Not sure why they didn’t.
