You are not adding Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange etc bro

It would dwarf San Antonio

No reason whatsoever.

Bring the Chargers to San Antonio. I'd be the world's biggest Bolts fan in a fricking HEARTBEAT.

let's put an asterisk on that. A lot of them shouldn't be here.

Add in Austin just up the road and the market swells to 4.7 million. Plus it would be the fastest growing market in the country at 17.53% with no slowing down. Again, i think San Antonio would be a great NFL city.

This region is fricking thirsty for football. An NFL team here would be an unqualified success.

Look at how quickly we showed out for the Saints when Katrina hit, and how we easily paced the AAF in fan support. It'd be a fricking lock, and everyone who doesn't have a bone to pick with SA (for whatever reason) knows it.

The same article is talking about putting NFL teams in Memphis, London and Mexico City. I'll take what they said with a grain of salt.

San Antonio is already Cowboys territory. I think any new team there is going to struggle to get support from all the lifelong Cowboys fans. I doubt the NFL is struggling in the San Antonio TV market either with 2 in-state teams less than 3 hours drive away.

Salt Lake City makes more sense IMO than San Antonio. Similar size media market. Jazz get great support there. Nearest NFL teams would be Vegas and Denver, both 400-500 mile drives, so a SLC team isn't competing against another nearby team for fans. And since there's no other NFL teams nearby, adding a team in SLC would do more for the NFL in that media market than it would improve San Antonio by adding a team there.

Who do you think he took with him to the John Wick 3 premiere? We're best buds. Said something along the lines of "Thank God I'm out of that shithole further south. That city should never have an NFL team" and we just clicked

Why did you link to a SB Nation article when your quote is sourced from a Bleacher Report article from 2010 (and has no source for that supposition)?

It should eventually happen. The market is booming. The state can easily support a third team. I’d drop what little patience I have left with the Cowboys and become a SA Chargers fan.

I think baseball would also work. SA would be much better than either Florida market. It also doesn’t seem to be big on either the Astros or Rangers. The Missions always feed out of state teams, so interest is scattered.

You don't know what you're talking about, man. This town is fiercely proud of San Antonio anything. There are a ton of lifelong Cowboys/Texans fans like me who'd INSTANTLY rep the local team if that came to pass.

We ride or die with our Spurs. No confusion there between which pro teams to pull for. Football would be the same.

I guess this comes down to this, do they just let the LA Chargers die? Its 100% clear the Chargers aren't going to make it LA. They cant even come close to getting 25k fans into that Soccer stadium. Imagine what this is going to look like playing in an 80k seat, half empty stadium. San Antonio makes great sense. Its a booming market in a football crazy state. If San Diego isn't the first choice, then San Antonio should absolutely considered.

At some point, the owners may decide that they have to “nudge” the Spanos family into a sale.

No matter where this team goes, the core problems will follow.
