Why Couldn't San Antonio be a Viable Option for the Chargers?

Makes sense to me. I just don't by the whole "Jerry Jones won't let this happen" thing. The owners as a whole vote on it. If moving the team to San Antonio makes the league more money then so be it. The Chargers are absolutely dead in LA. Something seriously has to be done. San Diego refuses to get a stadium built. So where else? When thinking of other cities, San Antonio is the biggest city in America without an NFL franchise, add in Austin and southern Texas and that's a big region, plus its one of the only cities with a ready made stadium. Regardless of what you think about the Alamodome, it could hold serve for the time being. The San Antonio Commanders of the AAF outdrew the LA Chargers last season so there is clearly an appetite for the NFL in San Antonio.

Seriously, what is so terrible about the Alamodome? The NFL used it as a home for the Saints after Katrina.

The big reason? Not a lot of corporate money there to be buying suites, company tickets, doing sponsorships, etc.

False. Spanos refuses to be reasonable in stadium negotiations.

This whole move was about money. Spanos moved the team because he saw dollar signs in LA. It would make zero sense to move the team to an even smaller market than San Diego.

That might be technically how the league works but that’s not how the actual show is run.

There’s a group of 3-5 owners that really make things happen, and Jerry is one of them.

You really dont see how a voting block of owners from cities like Detroit and buffalo and the like wouldnt be down for opening the pandoras box of giving franchises to cities thought to be inside another franchises footprint?

Jerry is an unofficial leader of the 32 owners.

He doesn’t have to even have a majority to block a move IIRC, he just needs a little over 1/3 of the owners, or 9 of them.

So the owners are ok with a team in LA making them zero? They are ok with a franchise failing because of Jerry Jones? That just seems crazy to me.

This guy probably thinks his local representative always votes on bills based on the wants of his constituents

The other 31 owners weren’t particularly happy when Spanos moved to LA, so putting him in another owner’s backyard about 5 years later will be a tough sell.

The owners wanted the Rams, and ONLY the Rams, in LA.

Lol the soyboys of N. Park ruined everything
There is no reason the Stadium shouldnt be downtown clearing out that zombie zone surrounding 16th street

Keeping it in MV was a waste. They could have giving MV to SDSU and a soccer team.

Then the Ballmer should take over the Pt Loma dump and make that the Clips home again

SBNation

"San Antonio's area, for the purposes of an NFL or MLB team would be very profitable as a revenue producing television market compared to places like Buffalo, Jacksonville, Nashville, New Orleans, or Kansas City. And will only be growing bigger in years to come."

So again, the owners are against making money? The Chargers in LA are dead.

San Diego = 3.3 Million 17th
San Antonio = 2.5 Million 24th

Add in Austin just up the road and the market swells to 4.7 million. Plus it would be the fastest growing market in the country at 17.53% with no slowing down. Again, i think San Antonio would be a great NFL city.
