re: Why can’t Louisiana have an MLB team? The Marlins are averaging 6k fans a game

Will never get MLB I wonder what size the TV market is if you combine BR Nola . Despite the size of Miami and its wealth the Marlins have no fan support. I am sure their corporate support is fine and that is all that matters but still you would think just by accident a few more people would show up for their games

Good points. I even go as far to say Miami is a terrible sports town. Yes, they have 3 major teams, but the reality is the draw, which is not very good. Too many options, besides going to a game. I remember back in the early 90's while living down there, the Dolphins sold out maybe half of their home games. That was because the snow birds bought up the tickets. AFC East, Pittsburgh, Washington, Philly.

I’ve never heard a soul talking about UNO basketball… I’m too young to remember the Tim Floyd years
At least every now and then the Pels fill the arena, UNO hasn’t done that in 30 years

When Benny Dees had Eackles, Grandison, Richardson, and others, the Lakefront Arena was rocking. UNO had pretty good teams back in those days. Anyone knows the answer, but wasn't Eackles a Prop 48 in JC before UNO?

Of course everyone will disagree, putting a MLB stadium in gramercy or sorrento is a ridiculous idea
Yes it is ridiculous. Our state has bigger problems to spend money on than pro sports stadiums.

I’ll go ahead and give you the full answer so you can stop worry about this.
- Other, much larger, cities are begging for an MLB team. In La is more of an occasional curiosity.
- MLB is a summer sport. Our summers in South La are unbearable. LSU plays in the Spring, the heart of MLB season is May-August.

You can't be serious.
UNO men's basketball average attendance this past season was 722.

Louisiana is split between Cubs, Braves and Astros supporters. We also just don’t have the population to properly support an MLB franchise.

I think a minor league team in the St. George / Ascension / Livingston area would do well. No one wants to drive out to Goldsby at night. I'd love to see how an AA team would do.
Same.

There was a time before Skip, that UNO baseball outdrew every other college program in LA

And your example of Alex Box having 11k/game, that is with a perennial contender.
Also a shorter season.
MLB is driven by the number of TV sets in the local market and NOLA would be near the bottom.
