Brah, scouts were saying Skal was going to be drafted over Simmons this past summer.

The Booker question is a legit one. The NBA game has changed...Booker seems to fit the mold of how the NBA is being played today.

Dude no one thought Skal would turn in to this. His game is perfect for today's NBA and it was all on display against LSU last week. He's still going to be a lottery pick despite barely playing at all for like 3 months of the season. That should tell you all you need to know.

Yea, get him mixed up with Ulis rankings. But still, Booker was not one of Cal's highest rated recruits he usually gets. Booker was thought to be a 2-3 year player going into UK.

He has the freak size and athleticism combination. He's shown to be a good rebounder (he almost would have to be with his physical tools) and a very good passer for a player his size. He isn't a good shooter at all from what I have seen. That surprised me based off of the impression I heard before he came to LSU. He's another incredible high ceiling guy who in reality isn't a very good basketball player imo. An athlete first and not really a skilled player.

That's just wrong. If you are 6' 10'' and pass like a point guard, you are a skilled player, sorry.

I never said that. I said we didn't know who would go #1 wheb people on the rant were going off how Ben Simmons was a lock to go #1 and I was only bringing up that we can't say that when he had never played a single second of college ball and that there was just as many people saying skal would be #1. I wasn't saying skal would be #1, just that it was too early for any one person to be considered a lock. Look at how skals draft status has dropped, that could have been simmons. We just didn't know enough at that point. That's what I was saying

Maybe not this, but plenty people thought there would be a learning curve since he was out of basketball for so long.

I am saying now that ingram is the best pro prospect. The sixers will probably take simmons but I think the Lakers would take ingram if we end up with the #1 pick

Speaking of, he seems to have been doing well since the break.

Which I readily admitted plenty of times. It was the other stuff that caught me by surprise.

And if you can't and/or won't take shots outside of 3 feet from the basket then you are missing skills of a complete player.

Then he's not a complete player, everyone knows he's lacking a jump shot. But he has skills, very unique ones given his size and passing ability. Raw athleticism does not give you the ability to see the court like he does. That is a skill. He's not just running and dunking all day.

With you description, I think I put the wrong comparison of Simmons...maybe he is more of a taller Rajon Rondo then a poor shooting Lamar Odom.

Rajon could drive, had great court vision, great passer, rebounder...but could not and would not take the jump shot when the team needed it.

Rondo can't shoot at all, including free throws, and actively tries avoiding being fouled.

Ben Simmons nearly has a foot on Rondo, there fore they arent comparable at all.

as good of finisher as Rondo was, you're in a totally different stratosphere as a 6'11" player with handles that can finish with either hand or score in the post

Did you not read where I said he is a taller version of Rondo? Also, they both have similarities of college teammates not liking them.

I don't think he's quick enough to take most NBA bigs off the dribble, tbh.

Do you think Julius Randle is quick enough to take NBA bigs off the dribble?

Well, because he is. And he's abusing the mismatch when a smaller guy is one him.

And if he can't develop a jumper with a quickness, the bigs will just sag off of him anyways.

And Randle is a terrible shooter.

Most would deem Randle's year 1 a success with promise looking forward.. averaging double double as a 21 year old

Now let's be clear, Simmons >> Randle

taller
better handle
larger winspan
larger standing reach
faster
jump way higher

Lots of silliness in here.

Simmons is an athlete without basketball skills?
