Saints sucked and cowboys were good

Same reason why everyone started being saints fans in the past few years.

and they Cowboys were the only team in Texas.

When was this happening? The full 4 years Houston didn't have a football team?

At this point, anyone who became a fan in the 90's and still is one today is a real fan. No matter what team you are talking about. 20 years isn't bandwagon.

Maybe in Northwest LA, Monroe stations have had the Saints on since day 1. Saints fan way over 18 that grew up watching them.

I was a Cowboys fan growing up in Monroe in the late 70's and 80's really only because our flag football teams were always the Cowboys and they were really good with a bunch of cool players. It didn't hurt they were also winners. Then in high school I saw the error in my ways and jumped on the Saints bandwagon and have been a Who Dat fan ever since.

Sorry, when I say North La in this thread I am referring to the Shreveport area, as that is the only congregation of Cowboys fans I have seen in this state. Didnt mean to get your Monroe panties in a wad

I grew up in Cenla, graduated high school in 1989 and it seems like there slightly more Saints fans than Cowboys fans. There were also a lot of Houston Oilers fans. I know the Alexandria Town Talk had a Saints beat writer back then.

You gotta also remember, the Saints were so terrible back then, it's not like the Cowboys or Oilers were rivals. You could cheer for them and the Saints and not have divided loyalties.

I wanna say they did things in the early 90s like bring the Saints caravan up to Alexandria sports bars so people could meet players. I think after the Super Bowl win, that whole area became Saints country.

Shreveport to Dallas = 180 miles
Shreveport to New Orleans = 320 mile

Geography. A large part of the Shreveport TV market includes East Texas. I-49 was not 100% complete until the 90's so it's long been easier to drive down I-20 to DFW.
