Yep, and last I heard, the other KC and the State of Kansas began to entertain the idea making a deal with them.

Because I'm sure there's all kinds of kick backs and money laundering involved.

There's no "allowing" any more than if say...Piggly Wiggly went to Breaux Bridge and said, "If you don't help us build a new store, we're out of here". Breaux Bridge would laugh at Piggly Wiggly,

Well Ruston made some big big Tax concessions to get Buc-ee’s. Even though they are screwing over other businesses already there.

One of the saddest things in sports is when you realize dozens of owners are truly in it to maximize profit and nothing more

See some baseball owners not spending shite because they don’t have to.

Many businesses shake down cities in return for them moving to that city, happens all the time.

The City is going to increase the hotel tax. In theory, tourist will be paying the City's portion of the cost.

Breaux Bridge would laugh at Piggly Wiggly, but state legislators and city councils don't laugh at the Saints, Astros or Bulls when something they say something like that. They fork over taxpayer money.
Ruston isn't paying for Buc-ee's building, but the city is spending a ton of money building and improving roads near the store.

Original city then loses out on hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue every year.

This is questionable, and there are studies showing that it is false.

Because they are held hostage by the team's ability to move to somewhere that will. Especially true of small and midsized cities.

Would love more than anything to see cities tell these owners to go frick themselves.

Also the league let the A’s deliberately tank and spike ticket/concession prices in a plot to ruin fan support and there will be no repercussions for it

It was either deliberate or GROSS incompetence.

It sucks. The Spurs current arena opened in 2003. It’s fine. I’ve always said I don’t need bells and whistles to enjoy a game. All of these luxury suites, bars, social media walls, etc will raise the cost of your ticket. The average fan will continue to get priced out.

Here’s to hoping the proposed stadium’s AC is ready for a finals series.

Didnt, the city of KC just tell the owners to Shove it when it came to a new stadium.

Yes. The Chiefs proposed a half-baked plan to "renovate" Arrowhead with a pedestrian bridge over the parking lots and "upgrades" to the "premium seating" areas.

The Royals...didn't propose a plan other than "we'd like to move downtown" (but we're not going to tell you exactly where, or the cost, or the timeline, or anything else).

Basically both teams said "frick you taxpayer, give us a blank check based on zero details or benefits to the average fan, otherwise we'll move 7 miles west"

I was at that game in the top row. There was no circulation up there. With the humidity, the concourse hallways were like a slip and slide.

If the Spurs leave San Antonio, it could be decades before the city could attract another professional sports franchise. Team ownership knows this, and they are using that leverage to their fullest advantage.

The amount I spend in NOLA in 1 football season wouldn't get spent in 10 years in the city if the Saints moved. Same goes for majority of people around my season tickets who drive in from Lafayette/Mississippi Coast/Mobile for the games.

I'm sure NBA/NHL/MLB are different because there are so many games and you would assume most season ticket holders are local but NFL teams moving 100% would cost the city more in the long run than their portion of the new stadium.

You could make the argument for the quality of the team (although the timing is awfully convenient)

But they raised prices on everything top to bottom and essentially ran smear campaigns of the A’s fans. It all feels deliberate

Clark Hunt can take some of Gracie's inheritance and pay for his own stadium.
