What is the point of rushing 2 and having no impact on the pass rush? Why give the QB time to allow his receivers to run down field?

At that point why even rush two? Just take those two worthless players out and put in two more cornerbacks.

Or just rush 4. Rushing 2 was just moronic. The DC stole the game from them guys.

You can rush 5 and make the qb release the ball early have 6 in coverage.

4th and goal from the 30. Your corners can play way off and your safeties can defend the goal line. You can still rush 4-5 and not just fricking 2 so the QB doesn't have all damn day

Exactly. You know the qb has to buy time to allow his receiver downfield and release the ball. Rushing 2 is like having 9 defenders vs 11.

It’s neglect to give a QB and these athletic WRs that much time to get open. Someone is going to do it as we just witnessed.

That’s a devastating way to lose. Auburn did everything they could to blow that.

Exactly. Can they just put all DBs in the game and send everybody back then.

I will never understand the waste of rushing 2. At least rush 3.

Terrible defensive playcall. On 4 and 25 type situation, you need to be pressuring the QB. At least 4-5, hell, I wouldn't be mad at bringing 6.

Only sending 2 was completely pointless. You only do that on a hail mary type situation where the QB has to throw the ball 50+ yards

This was inevitable. It’s a high percentage play in fact for Bama. If you haven’t noticed, miracles are routine for them.

What’s even funnier is Auburn actually had a spy on that play. It looked like Auburn was in man coverage with cover three in the end zone. Auburn actually took a timeout just to set up that defense.

Rushikg 2 meant the qb could see the pressure and did not have to worry about releasing it faster or someone sneaking in behind him. If you rush 4 it takes more qb focus off downfield to not get sacked.

It was spineless to only rush 2. It allowed him to throw without pressure. Put any pressure and that makes him throw early or off target.

And they used a spy on the QB. On 4th and 31.

Auburn did that twice in 2013. Won both games. But now we have Freeze and his misfit coaches so we only rush 2 and have a fricking spy for some reason and lose

Auburn was even worse.

It was 4th and goal from the 31.

They rushed 2 with a spy.

Milroe wasn't going to get 31 yards on a scramble and he COULDN'T throw if he went past the LOS, so the spy was a useless appendage that contributed nothing to the defense.

Absolute travesty

In most situations I agree with the blitz. With last night, where it wasn’t a 4th and yardage in the field, it was 4th and had to have a play between 31-41 yards. Why not rush 1 guy and put 10 guys in the end zone. Then when the ball is thrown, be it short of the end zone or in the end zone, attack the ball and knock it down.
