Why are all older NFL highlights in slow motion?

Serious question. Is it something technical that I'm not aware of?

I hate slow motion highlights and think they are worthless in showing the talents of the players.

Bob Hayes says hi

Hayes won the 1964 100 meters by 4 meters... 10.05 and turned off the power at about 85 meters - just glided in.

To say there was no speed in the old days is silly.

I used to inject those NFL Films shows/clips directly into my veins growing up. Loved that shite.

I’d pay a non zero amount of money for a streaming service that has that full archives

You think NFL films from the 60s and 70s is cheesy?

They only broke new ground and won countless awards...it's called art.

I guess Olympiad and all those other Olympic films are cheesy as well.

I don't beleive you.

WW1 troops had weird shutter like movements and nobody in movies before 1927 could talk. I have video proof.

NFL Films highlight show with Summeral and Brookshire was great.

And then there's The Voice of God.

Give me slo-mo NFL Films highlights anytime.

You just can’t duplicate John Thomas Ralph Augustine James Facenda (yes I googled) as the narrator of those old school highlight reels and team recaps

Also football follies

No. This is why much older films always appear to be moving so fast. It’s almost a trope now to portray an old timey black and white movie when portrayed today to mimic it.

If the frame rate was lower back then, they’d need to speed it up to match today. Thus faster. 24 is about the minimum the human eye can See without seeing flickering.

They are sort of known for the slow footage. People loved it.

So we can hear the beautiful voice of John Facenda tell stories while the action is taking place.
