The Basketball Hall of Fame is not just for NBA. If he had never played a second of professional basketball, he'd still be deserving.

If Bert Blyleven had won 13 more games, the people complaining about his induction would be clamoring for his induction. The guy was fifth all-time in career strikeouts (the only eligible players in the top 15 in career K's not in the Hall are Clemens and Schilling, and Schilling ranks 15th). He's credited as having one of the best curveballs ever, he won two World Series, and he had a career ERA+ better than Nolan Ryan.
Seriously. If Bert Blylven isn't a Hall of Famer, perhaps we need to re-evaluate our standards a tad. Is biggest negative is he won "only" 287 games.

Assigning championships to QBs is retarded. I thought we'd already been over this.

QB's and championships go hand in hand. You hear it all the time, Marino was great but he never won a SB. Favre was great but he only got 1, Manning is one of the greatest ever but his brother has 2.....so on....

Assigning championships to QBs is retarded. Using championships as a barometer for QB greatness is equally retarded.
"hearing it all the time" makes it no less retarded.

Not gonna disagree. It happens though, like it or not.

He accumulated those stats over a bunch of above average seasons. A stat compiler, not the same as an all-time great.

phil knight and nike's influence on basketball and sports in general cannot be understated. athletes are the biggest global celebrities because of what nike and jordan started in the 80s.
phil knight being in the basketball hall of fame is similar to the miami heat retiring jordan's #23. its about contributions to the game/sport.
Of course. Then every little chinese 5 year old that made the shoe should also be inducted. Its not really quantifiable what Knight's influence was on the game like Namath. Why are 99% of HOF inductees based on wins, stats, all-stars etc?
Can you credit Phil Knight for being the ONLY contributor from Nike? He started the brand, but that doesn't mean he was the only guy pulling the strings to exert more influence.

Knight may or may not belong in the hall, but the reasons stated above are really quite idiotic.
