I always thought Aikman was extremely over rated numbers wise to be in the NFL HOF.
Only threw for 20+ TDs 1 year in his career 165/141 TD/INT ratio
Those numbers don't scream HOF to me

Maravich was a better score
Sure guy.
''I don't understand how Bernard does it. He's in heavy traffic - guys all over banging him and waving their arms - and he gets the shot off, not just any shot, but the shot he wants, and he cans it. Time after time. He's the best scorer I've ever seen or played against.''

Maravich was better. Get over it.
Maravich's win shares is just pathetic. Way worse than King's and probably everybody else in the HOF.
So perhaps he was the greatest player ever that wasn't making his team better.

So now you're passing off other peoples opinons as fact?

I have no problem with Aikman, and I am not a Cowboys fan AT ALL. He's no different from Bradshaw or Starr.

I'm passing off Larry Bird's opinion as informed.

3 Rings do.

BTW, were you going to address Pete's atrocious win share numbers?

But his final 15 years associated with the NFL netted 0 playoff wins
He got the Jets into the AFC CG in 98, that's just now 15 years. He was not in the league for 2 years between his stint with the Jets and Dallas. While he didn't win any playoff games in Dallas but did take a 5-11 team to 10-6 and the Dolphins went from 1-15 to 11-5 in his and Spirano's first year.

dick vitale is in the basketball HOF. that upsets me just because he is not even good at his job (at least now). i realize he was important for the game and im sure some older people are gonna tell me how wrong i am and how much he has contributed to basketball, but frick off. he's a gimmick.

I understand why Aikman is in, but based on stats, I don't think he should be. Is big ben going to be a HOF if he wins one more? Hell maybe he already should be in
I mean Robert Horry should be in the NBA HOF then too. That's sarcasm and I know it's a different sport but it's a similar type of argument

And I've restrained myself from the "Parcells won two Super Bowls with Belichick/Parcells won zero without Belichick/Belichick won three without Parcells" argument
good, saved you from embarassment because that's a pretty stupid argument
How many SB's has Bellichick won as HC without Brady? This just in, to win, you need good players and assistant coaches.

This is as bad as the person saying Phil Knight shouldn't be in the HOF.
They are in as Ambassadors of the game. And both are truly HOF worthy in that capacity.
Vitale is tired schtick now, but it wasn't always that way.

Agreed. Quarterbacks are measured and judged (fair or not) by the number of rings they have, more so than other positions.

Is that why he averaged 5 assists per game?
No, that was because he was a ball-hog.
quote:
Is that why he shot 43% in his best NBA season?
This is also because he was a ball-hog.
Seriously, i think you'd have a hard time coming up with 10 better in any of those categories. But i'm biased, so take it for what it's worth.
ps: also should be noted that Maravich played most of his pro-career hurt, and didnt have too many above average team-mates. Bird only played with him at the end of his career when he was an off the bench gunner.

Bernard at his best -- i.e. before his knee injury -- was a top 5 player in the league. The same cannot be said for Pete.
I disagree with both of these.
