You should know better then to compare passing numbers from different eras. Young was one of the greatest passers ever. Newton isn’t an elite passer or anywhere close.

I know we hate the dude, but its probably Cam Newton right now and it will definitely be him career-wise in a few years.
Only Vick, Cunningham, and maybe Elway had anywhere near comparable physical tools, dude is as much a physical freak as Lebron.
Now putting it all together is another question......

WGAS about his "physical tools"?
Jamarcus Russell bhad great "physical tools".
He's been middle of the pack at best as far as yardage,TD passes,QBR and completion percentage.
He's been an average QB at best the last 3 years.

I’d take Rodgers, Young, Russell Wilson before Vick and Cam. 1/2 of this is passing ability and accuracy. Cam and Vick are lacking there.

Trying to compare Jamarcus Russell to Cam Newton is like trying to compare Steve Young to Ryan Leaf. You Cam haters try way too hard.

Cam completed 68% of his passes last year. Top 10 in the NFL. That was with a bum shoulder the last half of the year.
Shoulder is healthy coming into this year, let's see what he can do in year 2 of Norv Turner's offense.

That’s great, this is dual threat. Passing is even more important than running. Steve Young was in another stratosphere as a passer.

LOL, the d-bag has 3 events
1. Stealing a students laptop
2. Committed academic fraud
3. Was bought like a whore, by Auburn.

Johnny Unitas could probably be in there, but that was before my time.

That was is only category he was in the top 10 in anything.Yards,TD Passes and QBR
he was middle of the pack at best.
And he STILL has a career completion percentage of under 60%

His ENTIRE defense of Cam was based off his "physical tools"

Roger Staubach deserves an honorable mention.
Pound for pound, era to era, Roger was amazing. He could flat out ball.

Steve Young or Fran Tarkenton

So his bum shoulder caused him to have his best completion % of his career by almost 8%

No, the new offense, an actual OC/ QB coach for the first time in his career, a decent OL for once. Plus just improving and progression as a passer. A lot of QBs do it once they hit their 30s.
The bum shoulder held him back, stalled and cut short what was starting off as a great season.
