They should have named themselves Acadiana, but they want to be the U of Louisiana, as per them calling themselves UL. But La taxpayers can't afford 2 flagship state schools and their supporters certainly aren't going to put the money up for it. And we really don't need a second, unless it's targeted to science and technology.
But they could do it themselves anyway, with more self generated funds, and a 50% increase in student body, while maintaining their standards. If they did that, it wouldn't matter what they call themselves.
I have no problem with La's Ragin Cajuns as athletic branding.
But a U of Louisiana, should be a top tier school.

La Tech?
Don't know much about Tech but they're the only other Tier 1 public university in the state.

louisiana.edu has been around since atleast 1999. The other one would direct you to louisiana.edu. just saying

I think University of Acadiana or Acadiana State University would have been a pretty cool name, but the acronyms wouldn't work very well.
