How about SGA? He's roughly the same age as Luka and Tatum.
Best player on the team with the best record in the NBA.
Leads the League in scoring.
Elite playmaker.
Best perimeter defender in the League.
No drama, no politics, and fun as hell to watch.
If he was playing for the Lakers or Celtics, he would already be the face of the League.
And we have a winner!!
Shai this season:
31 — Games with 30+ points
5 — Games with under 25 points
Take away free throws made and he still leads the league in scoring
Shai & J-Dub are modern day MJ & Pippen.
Very similar archetypes that complement each other beautifully in all phases of the game
So far one of the greatest seasons ever posted by a guard in NBA history, meanwhile OKC is having one of the greatest seasons by a team in NBA history from a net rating standpoint, this is quite literally the closest anyone has gotten to the ‘96 Bulls since the ‘96 Bulls.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Total Points in Each Quarter Ranks
1st Quarter - Most points in the NBA
2nd Quarter - Most points in the NBA
3rd Quarter - Most points in the NBA
4th Quarter - 23rd Most points in the NBA
The reason not 4th quarter is he sits a lot of them due to large leads. If he had played them his stats would be off the charts.

Tatum
Not even the best player on his current roster.

We are still wayyyy deeper than any other country. And will be likely forever. We just need our guys healthy and motivated.

Wemby could be but he's in San Antonio. Luka is in a huge market being with the Lakers.

Bronnie. Why do you think the Lakers drafted him?

I'll give it to the Lakers, they do a great job of promotion. Luka shirts to the entire arena, Luka donating 500k to fire victims within one week of living there, the "77" Hollwood sign promotion, and Luka speaking Spanish in the press conference were all great moves.

There is absolutely nothing exciting about FT Merchant SGA. He will never be the face of the league playing in OKC.

Does City even matter anymore? This ain’t 1982 with only a few network channels on TV. If you can play, you can play. Haven’t we had MVPs in OKC and Milwaukee before? Ja is in Memphis and would have a huge profile if he wasn’t a thug

Jokic is the best player in the NBA right now. He could have played/been great in any era.

shite, I'm not sure he even likes the sport.

Anthony Edwards should be. He’s the only likable one of them all. Dude is the man.

Says someone who has never watched a full Thunder game in his life.

Guy is gonna have arthritis in his neck from snapping his head back trying to get foul calls every time he drives.
Regardless, he'll never be the face of the league between playing in maybe the single worst market to have a team and having very little marketable charisma.

I’m not saying the Thunder aren’t a great team. They are ridiculously deep. But SGA is not the type of player who will draw fans outside of his own market. Luka, ANT, and Giannis are probably the only realistic candidates, maybe Zion if he has a Shaqlike wake up.

Put Edward’s on the knicks and watch out.

No one will supplant the big markets, thats a given. But when you win you get attention and he plays on the best team.
KD/Russ/Harden got plenty of attention. Had KD not snaked out and they win a few titles then what? Shea will get enough if they make finals. He’s a really great player and is fun to watch.
I said in another thread its not his fault its the NBA. They have been squeezing every red cent out of their aging stars and forgetting to promote risers. Look at XMas day, never showed them even with best record. Barely have them in national telecasts so of course how can you expect people to know players without any showing time.
